  • this is a picture! holy hell….i suck at these descritptions

  • Wear it to show either your love of math or your scorn for it… works either way! (Just who is this Pythagoras guy, anyway?) Also available in dark tee shirt colors

  • The parametric equation for one of the shapes associated with spirographs along with an example. The variable “a” is the radius of the first circle that the second one “b” revolves around (think planets). The “b” value is the radius of the circle on the outside that turns on the edge of the middle circle. The variable T is kind of like the step. As the graph moves, the T controls how far the values are placed apart (i.e. you could have a straight line, skipping all the points in between, or you could plot the whole curve). The variable “p” is the pen offset. When it is equal to “b”, the pen starts at the edge of the smaller circle.

  • White text version for use on dark colour shirts.

  • My origami calendar I folded the mother duck out of trace paper around the time I saw ducklings on the way to work; can read about that here. I can’t remember how big the paper was; I believe 13×13mm. The two little ducklings in the centre were folded from 6×6mm pieces of trace paper while the little one at the back was folded from a 5×5mm piece of trace paper. I know mother duck is just behind the 4cm mark, but the duckling at the back is infront of the 1cm mark, hence the duck family is a 3cm spread ^ _ ^ New version added August 21, 2008 / Looks great on a card! • I saw the fire burning over the water .. smoke blued by the night flowing outward … My first ever work in Ultrafractal and the newest version 5.01 with post work (texture, sizing, brightness, contrast) in Gimp. Wish you could see the texture in this image (big smile) It’s best viewed large (grin) I’m completely impressed with the speed of rendering so far in UF5! I rendered this fractal at 10,000px squared with 300 resolution and it only took ten minutes on my 3.2mhz computer (2 gigs of ram) ... wow! Oh I suppose more complex images will take a lot longer .. don’t know yet since I’ve only rendered this one (big grin) .. however I had to resize it down to 5000px and compress it a little so that I could upload it here (smile) ... I’m very pleased with UF5 .. I’ve only scratched the surface for now but I see almost unlimited possibilities with my new toy (big smile) hope you enjoy it (big smile) Featured Art – March 2009 – RedBubble Group: Art in Math Featured Art – June 2009 – RedBubble Group: A Fractal Energy Passion Featured Member – Featured Art – June 2009 – RedBubble Group: A Fractal Energy Passion UF09-1-090311-27

  • I have been keeping myself busy, playing with Moebius Julias. I originally imported this into Photoshop CS, just to put my signature on it, but I couldn’t resist all those triangles! I used the polygon lasso tool and gave them their own layers. Then I added the drop shadow and bevel layer styles to give it more depth. Featured in the ART IN MATH Group, August 11, 2009.

  • Dear Peter … Josie and I just returned from Central America a few days ago … you remember .. I told you about the trip a few months ago (smile) ... Well … (grin) ... we were extremely lucky to catch a glimpse of the newest variation of the Quetzal bird … Spendorus Resplendent … only seen once before by the noted orthinologist, Roger M. Milhouse, PhD, on his last trip to the region back in 2001. You remember him don’t you? ... the bird guy from back in our university days? LOL … I know you couldn’t have forgotten him (grin) ... well … You can imagine our excitement yet we were able to quickly get his photo. No not Roger’s photo (grin) ... Do check the attachment (smile) After we returned I sent a copy to Roger who immediately emailed back that it was indeed the bird that he had seen. I plan to meet with him in a few months to tentatively plan a trip back to the area where we sited the bird. I’m so excited I can hardly wait. Would you be interested in joining me when I meet with Roger? .. Josie is tied up with another project and won’t have time to help me out on this one. I know how interested you are in the wildlife of Central America so … get back to me as soon as you can … if you’re really interested I’d love to have you join us (big smile) Cassie for more information see The Resplendent Quetzal Featured Art – October 2009 – RedBubble Group: ImageWriting Work done in Apophysis with post work in Gimp. / Best viewed large. No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinized, as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets and yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this Earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us. At midnight on the twelfth of August, a huge mass of luminous gas erupted from Mars and sped towards Earth. Across two hundred million miles of void, invisibly hurtling towards us, came the first of the missiles that were to bring so much calamity to Earth. As I watched, there was another jet of gas. It was another missile, starting on its way. And that’s how it was for the next ten nights. A flare, spurting out from Mars – bright green, drawing a green mist behind it – a beautiful, but somehow disturbing sight. Ogilvy, the astronomer, assured me we were in no danger. He was convinced there could be no living thing on that remote, forbidding planet. ‘The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one,’ he said. ‘The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one – but still they come!’ Then came the night the first missile approached Earth. It was thought to be an ordinary falling star, but next day there was a huge crater in the middle of the Common, and Ogilvy came to examine what lay there: a cylinder, thirty yards across, glowing hot… and with faint sounds of movement coming from within. Suddenly the top began moving, rotating, unscrewing, and Ogilvy feared there was a man inside, trying to escape. he rushed to the cylinder, but the intense heat stopped him before he could burn himself on the metal. ‘The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one,’ he said. ‘The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one – but they still come!’ ‘Yes, the chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one,’ he said. ‘The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one – but they still come!’ It seems totally incredible to me now that everyone spent that evening as though it were just like any other. From the railway station came the sound of shunting trains, ringing and rumbling, softened almost into melody by the distance. It all seemed so safe and tranquil. / / created with Apophysis & Incendia
