  • Nothing better than a spot of late night fishing at a coastal beach in summer. Pt Lonsdale, VIC A thank you to Bidkev for nominating this photo in the Pay It Forward Group. This what Kev had to say. I would like to nominate John Conway’s “Two Mates Fishing” A lot of my favourites are to do with fishing. Nothing settles me more and takes my mind of life’s tribulations than a peaceful day’s fishing. John has captured perfectly, the camaraderie that exists between two mates who have a love of the same pastime. If the sunsets are spectacular, as this one is, then that adds further to one’s enjoyment. This picture simply oozes mateship and peacefulness. Thanks Kev, very much appreciated

  • This man Pablo, brought me to his home in Taquile Island in the middle of lake Titikaka, He is a part of the “Aymara” a native ethnic group in the Andes and Altiplano regions of South America; about 2.3 million live in Bolivia, Peru, Northern Chile, and Northwestern Argentina. They lived in the region for many centuries before becoming a subject people of the Inca, and later of the Spanish in the 16th century. / The Aymara have existed in the Andes in what is now Bolivia (and, to a lesser extent, Peru) for over 2,000 years, according to some estimates. It is most likely that the Inca had a strong influence over the Aymara region for some time. Though conquered by the Inca, the Aymara retained some degree of autonomy under the empire. There were a number of ethnic groups which were later to be known Aymara by the Spanish. These were divided upon different chieftaincies. Upon arrival of the Spanish, all these groups were spread in what today is Bolivia. / Most present day Aymara-speakers live in the Lake Titicaca basin beginning in Lake Titicaca through Desaguadero River and into Lake Poopo (Oruro) also known as the Altiplano, and are concentrated south of the lake. The present urban center of the Aymara region is El Alto, a 750,000-person city near the Bolivian capital La Paz. / The native language of the Aymara is also named Aymara; in addition, many Aymara speak Spanish, which is the dominant language of the countries in which they live, as a second language. • I would like to dedicate this image to my husband Tommy. We have been sweethearts since we were in the eighth grade! Neither one of us dated anybody else all our lives. We will celebrate 38 years of marriage on July 3 of this year, 2009. I can’t think of a better friend, a more faithful companion, a more loving and devoted spouse than Tommy. I am blessed. Happy Valentine’s Day to my one and only Sweetheart! I think this pair of cardinals is a perfect symbol of our marriage as these wonderful little birds mate for life and are a beautiful symbol of fidelity.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird work as a team when feeding their babies. Both are avid hunters, going wherever the pickings can be found. In this case, Dad’s serving up cricket casserole while Mom’s whipping up some spider souffle. Babies aren’t particular; they eat just about anything. I love watching this pair appear at the nestbox with a wide variety of fare. Dad tends to serve things on a larger scale while Mom offers daintier portions. I saw him with multiple caterpillars dangling from his bill; quite a feat to catch and carry but he does it expertly! It’s very rare that both male and female land on a given spot together so I spliced two photos together in order to convey the idea of their concerted efforts on behalf of their little family.

  • I could not resist taking Silver’s picture this morning, she was snuggled in right beside me, and the look on her face was overwhelming…. • Lawton, OK / May 09 2 photos layered with different opacities Brushes I found on the web here All put together in CS4 by me =) Nikon D80 For Earth Keepers: Lawton, OK is HOT, muggy and buggy. There isn’t much to do around here, but when you look around with the right attitude there is beauty to be found. However…. with the extreme wind here the garbage gets blown all over the cow pastures and hay fields. We need to be better about securing our trash and that include not producing as much too.
