Digital painting from a photo I took off the tv the other day. It was a show about Wales’ mountains and had a segment about these hardy wild mountain ponies so grabbed my camera. It’s not a cloned painting but done ad lib with brushes and palette knife. Thanks for looking :-) Here’s the rough & ready photo off the tv:

Bluebirds start building their nests in mid February here in southern Louisiana; one pair has finished construction and the female is now incubating five lovely blue eggs. These birds are such little beauties; I never tire of watching them.

My husband Tommy spotted an owl in a tree as we were riding along the Lake Martin road so naturally we stopped to watch and take pictures. Moments later, a second owl lit on the branch and proceeded to tenderly “kiss” the first one’s face over and over again. They even kissed on the “lips” or rather beaks and then they both flew away. It was such a sweet encounter, one I was delighted to witness, and a great opportunity for me as I had never been able to photograph owls before this day. I think these may be barred owls; please correct me if I’m wrong. Thank you for taking a look at this photo and if you have time, please view larger.

I seem to have developed a special intimate relationship with bald eagles. Today, I witnessed this, not something many see. I was shooting this beautiful pair high in a tree, when the male unexpectedly cried, the call that melts my heart. She answered, as I was busy shooting in the early spring sun. But the calls were much more than I suspected, for the male flew from his perch just above the female on the same tree to mount her. I now feel a bit like a paparazzi, but oh so privileged. Captured with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor f4 600 mm lens with 1:4 teleconverter, ISO 400, f13, 1/800s.

This lovely couple were on my kitchen window.. enjoying thier time together..lol.. So. I decided to stop washing anymore boring dishes and grabbed the camera and shot them upwards against the glass. This female Baltimore Oriole tugged and pulled and managed to grab the strings near by for her nest. She was a riot (did you know these birds love doing somersaults?) as she managed to cram just about as many strings as possible into her beak – heck with the feeder – she just wanted the strings! lol! A mysterious colour, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing colour. Purple is the colour of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple is a good colour to use in meditation.
