Oil on Canvas 106 (w) x 115cm (h) What an attraction to this piece signifies according to ‘Colour Science’: An attraction to this piece speaks of the desire for balance or completeness of the self. Completion first comes through accepting your reflection, seeing all beauties, all flaws, and accepting them as you. It means seeing and accepting both the masculine and feminine energies within you and finding balance within the self. The internal peace that comes with this becomes a great force of attraction. The work also tells of the attracting force between soul mates – opposing forces of masculine and feminine energies force you to face eachothers’ differences and helps heal unbalanced forces within you. You are likely to prefer a partner who can communicate with you honestly, force you to face your shortcomings, and help you evolve as an individual although together. You become each other’s balancing force. For more information on Colour Science, contact Leni Kae. This male Eastern bluebird is helping the female build a nest with straw. The outcome is always a marvel, a perfectly formed little teacup-shaped nest that is usually topped off with a tiny feather before egg-laying begins, one a day for five days. Then comes incubation time, hatching, tending the nestlings, and finally giving the babies freedom when they fledge. Here in southern Louisiana, the scenario is repeated three times with as many as 15 new baby bluebirds coming into the world in a pair’s spring/summer mating season. I never tire of watching the drama. This beautiful little male is making his home in my mother’s yard where there are doves, finches, titmice, chickadees, cardinals, sparrows, red-wing blackbirds, and Lord knows what else! They love it there!
We all need them…. / Not my quote but I loved it and made this for a forever friend of mine – my Glaswegian Egg. xox

A quick, fun little drawing of one of my favorite subjects… This image was featured in the Dragon’s Fire group.
Thousands of bald eagles inhabit the west coast of Canada. Their call perhaps embodies the spirit of the west coast rain forest better than any other. I was fortunate this day to capture this image, the day after my grandson was born, and while I am not superstitious, I was very aware of the special significance these magnificent creatures hold for North American aboriginal peoples: “Both Bald and Golden Eagles (and their feathers) are highly revered and considered sacred within [North] American Indian traditions, culture and religion. They are honored with great care and shown the deepest respect. They represent honesty, truth, majesty, strength, courage, wisdom, power and freedom. As they roam the sky, they are believed to have a special connection to God”. Image captured with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor 600 mm lens with 1:4 teleconverter, ISO 400, f11, 1/500s in the estuary of the Fraser River just south of Vancouver.

I just love denim!
I captured these mating flies in the backyard this afternoon. After snapping a few pix, they would fly away, still attached to each other and land in a new spot. I”m not sure which spot I liked best ,so I am posting Mating Flies (1), (2), & (3). Which one do you like best ?
Ever since the painted bunting returned to southern Louisiana for the 2009 summer breeding season, I’ve been on the lookout for him. He sings heartily from the nearby forested property but seldom does he show himself. I saw him fleetingly a few times, but his extreme shyness keeps him well out of reach. Today, I sat in my blind and prayed he’d come. The singing started, with the glorious sound getting closer and closer until he landed as close as I’ve seen him this year. Snap. Snap. Snap. And then he was gone! This was as good as I could get; hopefully, there will be more opportunities before Mr. Elusive heads to Mexico for the winter months! Isn’t he just dandy! Reminds me of a box of crayons! I’m grateful to God for answering my prayer for a better view of this gorgeous little bird.

I captured this lemur at Marwell Zoo, whilst he was catching some rays. Since the new Zoo Director started, things are noticeably improving and finally the Ringtailed lemur enclosure has improved to be more suitable for this specie. The previous Zoo director spent most of the money on children playgrounds rather then improving the welfare of the animals in his car.
