  This is an extract from the novel I am writing. Please don’t judge me for the youth of the protagonist’s lover – it is an intrinsic and essential piece of the plot. / I am fiercely excited about this book. / It has a kind of zombie motif, but only in the most superficial sense. Hence the girl’s ‘fugue.’ / I believe I am more fascinated and thrilled by the latent process and the story itself than I have been by any painting. / There is a great deal more to it.
