Piece Two in my HSC body of Work. The series in total is called “Ascendancy” which means domination or influincing figure, but also has connotations to the ascention of Mary in Christianity. Basically what i tried to do was to show how humanity’s expression of faith has changed, evolved, or even stayed the same. “The Temptation” refers to the temptation of Christ by the devil (40 nights in the desert, etc) Compressed Charcoal on Paper / size: approx. 80×40 cms I would like to thank the wonderful photographer who allowed me to use his brilliant photographs as references throughout the series: mehmet turgut . There is really only a very vague similarity to the characters in the classic Hans Christian Andersen story. I adapted the characters and melded them into a vision I had of beauty and betrayal and birds; though mine look more like seagulls than ravens, and the beautiful girl is linked with, and becoming birds herself. In this state she can self-inflict pain and actually draw blood. It’s all very convoluted and doesn’t quite make sense. What pleased me greatly was the fact that the painting was bought by a listed Australian Artist for his personal collection. The medium used was damped out tissue paper, acrylics, ink, and Liquitex. There is more symbolism in the painting which is difficult to interpret, and some of it I don’t like thinking about, as it opens doors long closed. I was fairly pleased with some of the line work, and I think I achieved the coldness I was seeking. Thanks for looking,

Free Speech/ Vote Poster (for the 2004 Presidential Election) I designed for my ART 252 class – Graphic Design 1 with Hannah Chen. Collage w/ magazines, photos, duct tape, etc. I wish our professors had given us more assignments like this back when I was still starting at Cal Poly Pomona. Oh, and that’s me in the bondage/ sex slave getup, by the way. Yes, it’s freaky… yes, I’ve got pierced nipples… yes, I look like somebody’s bitch, I know. I normally don’t put myself in compromising positions like that, but I was 19 back then, and gosh darn it, if it’s for a good cause, then GET ME NAKED RIGHT NOW!!!! Hahaha
