This shot was taken in a gorgeous place called Spoon Bay. A wonderful feeling of remoteness to it even though it’s only a 10 min hike down a track. The rocks are gorgeous (that is if you are like me and love rocks and textures). The rock is a green sandstone (haven’t seen this colour anywhere else) and the sand is a deep golden colour. I took this photo because Ioved the contrasts in colours, textures and the movement of the sea in the middle of it all. For anybody that likes Photoshop, if you are interested in how I processed this image, I did a step-by-step tutorial in my blog. You can find my blog here Enjoy / Brent

Chainsaw Massacre…when good girls get mad and turn the pesky Martian invaders into scrap metal. / It’s a vague tribute to the old War of the Worlds movie and Chainsaw Massacre. Another in the fractured B Grade movie themes…this is a parody of the 1953 / 3D B-grade movie…Catwomen of the Moon. / Available as a poster, print, card and T.Shirt The storyline is roughly a race of stunning catwomen, the last of an ancient civilization plot to steal a spacecraft from an expedition from Earth….the party of guys think they’ve found paradise…..won’t tell you more but it’s a lot of fun with reviews ranging from highly imaginative, great fun with a box of popcorn to why did they bother…but I’m glad they did as it’s a hoot. / Image copyright © 2008 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited. / if you enjoyed this work you might like / Lust in Space / Catwomen of Mars T-shirt /

Medium: Digital / Size: 9.2” x 5.2” / Description: Completed in 2007 by digitally colouring ink drawings of 2 tripods, each taking 3 hours to pen. Based on the brilliant novel War of the Worlds by H G Wells. I wanted to really design the tripod in a different way to what had been done before. I wanted to show that the machines themselves were originally designed by the martians to use on their own dusty home world, hence the desert inspired hoods. Also, after extensive reading of the books, I devised my own interpretation of the legs and drew up sliding disk mechanisms that would allow the tripod a graceful movement. I designed them with my own back story, in that the Martian’s had surveyed our planet since the dinosaurs and modeled their walkers on the giant lizards to strike fear into our minds. I was a long process, but it wanted to do it justice. In fact, the tripod design I have concocted is still a work in progress and I will devote more time to their workings. Taken after sunset near Lorne, Great Ocean Road, Victoria. I had another version of this image on here which I had uploaded some time ago, but I wasn’t too happy with how I had done it, so I’ve now redone it so there is a bit more drama in the image. This is a pseudo HDR, with only 1 original exposure which has been tone mapped 3 different times, once for the sky, once for the large background rocks, and once for the small foreground rocks. Parts of the original exposure were used as fill in detail for the flowing water. Shot with a Nikon D200, 18-35mm lens at 18mm, 9 sec, F/16, 100 ISO, polarizer. BEST VIEWED LARGER
