  • 12X9 Acrylic Sketch on Charcoal Paper: I just started this late last night at my office waiting for a FAX. It will be used to promote release of Marlin caught on the West Coast this summer by CYC. The remora was a last minute addition as every one I ever caught has had one right underneath their gill plates. Utramarine, Cobalt, and a touch of Burnt Sienna.

  • This is one of three paintings that were done together. My concept for it was a good idea but didn’t play out the way I’d hoped. So Marlin is here alone on his stool. Being a typical feline, he not only loves to watch and get in my way, but he loves to help. He was instrumental in helping with the color palette, but a bit critical about the fact that one of his eyes was a little off.

  • I was lucky enough to go out on the boat while we did some bait fishing for the Marlin Season in Cairns. As we were heading to a reef for a night stay we threw out some heavy tackly lines to try our luck with the Black Marlin. Wihtin 10mins of the lines being out I was called out to the Marlin chair as we had landed one. 15mins later I had caught my first Black Marlin a baby in comparison to what they get up to but 180lb Black Marlin is nothing to laugh at so I am happy to say that I have caught my first Black Marlin and what a buzz it was, just the most amazing experience I have every felt. I know no why people come from all over the world to try and catch one of these fish. The photo was taken by David my partner as I was still coming of the high, and this is the photo of my first Black Marlin…I named him Josh who was our deckie and guided me through this amazing experience. He was not hurt and released to fight another day….. Canon 5D / Canon 17-40 f4LUSM Lens BEST VIEWED LARGER
