  • First time I meet this Red Bubble was a chance, I was looking in someone topic in the illustrate community. After take a like into this space, I found that this place is friendly and contain lots of cool artworks. So, I decide to become a new Bubble in this community, and be one of your friends. I’m an artist, I create my artworks for living. The happiness thing in my day is know that my artworks was sold out, Yeah, It’s cool. I think not only money I earn, but also know that still have someone love my artwork as I do. However, I still love to create my artworks. I feel in love with the line, I use it, make it and some kind like addict Now I have lots of artworks published in my artblog and some collections of paint marker in a small webspace. It’ll be nice if you leave some comments about them, anywhere I hope you like mine. While I’m busy finish the next collection, I still post my weekly :) artwork in my blog. See you. The photograph on the top is one of mine, I’m flickr for a while. I like photography as same as I love paint by the marker. /

Hi Kids! Today saw me painting, painting something which I hope will become rather successful. I’m into the quirky, and the geeky… all the things that make up TBO. / I’ve taken the Dead Silence Mermaid, and have painted, and drawn her (acrylic and marker) onto some floppy disks! / This was really just a bit of investigative art and i’m now doing one with 4 disks, of the mermaid dj again…... the top will be the same two, but different colours. Would really like your feedback! Would you buy something like this, given the chance? I would be looking at getting them framed and mounted, and putting them in my Big Cartel store. Much Love and Painty Bits, /

/ I know you like art supplies! I burnt $100 of recent income in about 10 minutes. / It’s me! This is why I’m not a photographer… I couldn’t take a non-blurry photo of myself if my life depended on it. I bought a new nose ring this afternoon because I want to rebel against my traditional discreet nose stud wearing ways, and the girl at the shop convinced me to buy one that’s wayyyy too big.

Thats right, it’s doodles and sketches. These do not make it to the gallery walls, but are as important as any finished work. Maybe more so for the artist’s own sake. Redbubble is a fine venue as it offers the world of crop. Enjoy… / Sam Dantone

The other day, while watching my bubble, I popped over to Owen Jones place as he had just added new work. To my surprise I found something more than the usual 2-D digitized image. Owen had cleverly reworked the latest Argos catalogue into a new world. That of the Devil and his Stickmen. What really hooked me is that Owen had created an opportunity to interact with his fellow bubblers. Owen challenged his viewers to find the six hidden Stickmen he had placed within his drawing. As a prize for the first to find them and their correct location, Owen offered up his own avatar to the winner’s piece of choosing. Well you can guess I was the first on the scene and the winner. For now, Owen’s avatar is a detail of my piece “Gray Matter…” I totally applaud Owen Jone’s creativity. What fun… Thank you Owen. Sam Dantone

  • Obama plays in Peoria, Visits Caterpillar
    by Sam Dantone

President Barack Obama will be visiting Peoria Illinois today, Feb. 12th, 2009. He plans to visit, construction equipment giant, Caterpillar’s factory in East Peoria. I have written Mr. Obama to request that while he is visiting would he please ask the CEO of Caterpillar to reinstate the health insurance that was contractually promised to their retirees. My father, Sam Dantone Sr. retired after 30 years of labor as a pipe-fitter at the plant that Obama will be visiting today. My father is a UAW member and has stood strong like his father and grandfather in the long, hard fought labor struggles here in the US. He has given his own health to Caterpillar to try to earn a living wage and to supply his son with a better life. The least Caterpillar could do would be to honor their own contracted promises of health care for their retirees. Instead Caterpillar has slowly eroded that promise by requiring the retirees to purchase the health coverage. They started by asking for a low monthly fee and have over the years continued to raise the fees to unaffordable prices. The irony is that Cat claims they need help to pay the premiums, however, Cat owns the insurance company and they are now turning a profit from the fees they are collecting. At the same time Cat’s insurance company stalls on all fronts when it comes time to paying on claims. This constitutes a crime. In fact this issue is currently in the courts. Cat has lost a couple of judgments in this case but continue to stall the process and have counter sued the UAW claiming the union is also responsible because they bargained the details of the contract. Of course that is ridiculous because it is Cat that is the employer that profits from the labor of it’s employees. The union was there to represent the workers to help keep them from being steamrolled by the large corporation. When I was young I visited the plant were my father worked. I will never forget being introduced to a man called Topper. As he was moving large gears from one machine to another nonstop he looked down at me and yelled over the din of the factory and said, “Get yourself an education boy, don’t end up in here”! I witnessed years of labor struggle between Cat and the UAW. There were many years we ate baloney on a daily basis while the workers were either on strike or locked out. All the while Cat records major profits. Please, urge your representatives to support workers rights. Thank you for reading this and taking action… ... for next time it might be your job and retirement. Sam Dantone

Sam’s Suspects, / I have been wanting to mix it up a bit here on the bubble. ( thinking out side the bubble you might say ) So, I have come up with an idea of creatively posting a series of drawings. My method is aimed to entertain those who are watching me on a regular basis. We have six thumbnails on our profile pages for our T’s and for our artwork. I will post a new piece each day this coming week to present a series of six drawings. By weeks end, all of my art thumbnails will be of this series. I usually only have internet access on weekdays, so I will post Suspect One today and Suspects Two through Six Monday-Friday of next week. The content of the drawings in this series are part of the world’s problem… as Sam suspects.

Sam’s Suspects is now complete… / Well as far as this series of drawings goes. I’m sure I could come up with some more suspects to expose. I have included the text of my original journal (below) that announced and explained this series for those who are just now tuning in. I really want to thank everyone for their support of the series with daily visits, favorites and comments. I am adding a triptych to the top three slots of my profile. I will not add these to any groups so this is especially for those of you watching me. This is a little study and meditation on the concept of Yin Yang. I can go on defining Yin Yang as it has been defined or as I see it, but I prefer to leave it up to you. All I will say is life requires we “Keep Pushing…” both sides equally. Visit my profile to get the full effect. Sam Dantone

I’m rather proud to have been handed a ‘golden marker’ by the honourable El Capitano ( something about being completely addicted to Tshirt Revolution challenges :) ). I almost want to sing I’m definitely going to have to get my butt into gear for the cut and paste challenge now (I have the idea, maybe tonight…) and I’m trying to share the love a little on my blog at the moment, and post about most of what I’m ‘favouriting’ – for a few reasons: I’m a bit tired of just plugging myself :) I usually favourite something for a reason I like to talk (a lot) I’d like to help other people get more exposure and hits during that ‘new work’ window None of this is hopefully going to hurt me :) So far I’ve made a few little plugs for great work by Simon Sherry, Muscular Teeth and Naf4d . You’ll have to subscribe (below) – or get yourself a google alert on your username to find out if I write about one of yours :) Stay in touch Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates

Hello all, / It is time for another series… / This time I’m feelin’ a little Evil… / I came across a piece I completed back before the new millennia recently and decided it lent itself to being a series. For the next four days, starting today, I will post a new piece each day. It is a familiar old theme with a new punch line. Much like many jokes it is a bit immature, but like they say “Fuck’m if they can’t take the art”... or is that a joke? Visit my profile for the next few days to get the whole effect… Just havin’ fun… Sam Dantone / / /

Hello all you watchin’ bubblers, I am going to start a series of work that will go on for awhile. I have recently unearthed ( unboxed ) a couple of sketchbooks that have work in them ranging from 1991 to 1993. My age for those years ranges from 19 to 22. I have picked out the better pieces from the pack and would like to share them with you. I was surprised as I look back at them that some of them were not too bad. Of course a lot were worthless, as it should be in a sketchbook. It is interesting to see how some style, technique and language (images) are still in my work today, 18 years later… My main reason for posting this series is because I am getting very busy with my sign shop. I started to get into the bubble when work slowed to a standstill last summer. Overall, our business was down 40% last year from the year before. As work is picking up I feel there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully for all of us. I have been a daily bubbler for awhile now (addicted I suppose) and now I need to concentrate on my job and also try to get my website finished. SamDantone.com is currently in the rough. I apologize if my thank you’s and acknowledgments are lagging and belated, but I gotta do what I gotta do. I’ll still be here checking in daily, so please keep in contact. You are all like my family… Sam Dantone

This is what the bubble is all about… My good friend of nearly 25 years, who recently joined the bubble, was inspired by a drawing of mine and came up with these words to go with the scene. I can’t say enough about how cool I think this kind of collaboration is. My piece is called The Dark Side of the Street and MrHill’s piece is called Breathless Gathering The rusty grate had the position for upward glances, / taking in the seeping misery. / There was no keeping clear / for the beasts are at play my dear…. The pussy played her part…. / Trash cans never emptied, they’ve been full from the start… Your money is no good here, / unless it comes to me. / My red shoes do the tapping / in the around the corner slapping / The thin dog polishes his teeth. Cracks race the dock, / ready to unload / name your poison, says the road / Clean is unseen, and out go the lights. / There is no air, as it has been replaced by breathless gathering / So is the heat, on the Dark Sided Street……

  • I never get invited (except to the pity party)
    by Arletta

Not to those exclusive groups for people who have been on RB for over a year...

Not to those exclusive groups for people who have been on RB for over a year, not for groups for persons who do graphic art, or who are published authors, or who make comics, or for those who are real artists who use real ink or paint, nor for those who sketch or paint the wilderness or scenery, nor for photographers, because I never photograph anything either well or worthwhile. Nope! I never get invited, because, I am assured, I am just a digital artist, and I should stick to groups like that. For digital artists, as you know, cannot do a thing else, and they never do any of their work by hand, but, only by tricks and that is not any sort of art at all. It has nothing to say, no meaning, and takes no talent to create Digital art: / Yuck! Why would anyone want to look at that! Not only is it “boring”: and lacklustre but it just doesn’t mix well with other art This is not really a pity party, by the way. This is for self amusement, so liberties have been taken in regards to which sort of groups I was not invited to that were exclusive, and why. Sort of making fun of myself, because I did run into a group that was exclusively for people who have been on Red Bubble at least a year (which doesn’t actually sound that exclusive to me), and, I have never been invited to an exclusive group that I would fit into by what they say are their standards, so I did feel a momentary twinge of “poor poor pitiful me” and then I got over it, and decided to turn it into something more entertaining. I hope it entertained you: I know it entertained me!
