Sailboat anchored on Lake Michigan in the evening haze. Calm waters allowed a perfect reflection.

/ Tobermory is a gorgeous little town on the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. It’s harbor not only filled with luxury yachts but also with a lot of shipwrecks, which makes it a divers paradise. It’s part of the Fathom Five National Marine Park of Canada. Luckily for me you don’t have to dive to discover a few of the shipwrecks. Luckily because I spent to much time underwater once, without diving gear, and I’m not inclined to submerge myself for longer periods under water. ;) This beauty caught my eye when strolling along the shore, with the duck approaching, I had to hurry but I was just in time to capture it. This image is one of my most popular wallpapers on my wallpaper website and I hope it will make me proud here also. The Sydney Heritage Fleet brought the 3 masted, steel hulled James Craig to dock at historical Williamstown. Built in 1874, it carried cargo around the world, until it was abandoned in favor of the steam revolution and sunk in 1932. Restored in 1972.

This anchor is a wonderful old thing, made from wrought iron and I should think, quite a few years old – if only it could speak! / It now rests as a piece of street sculpture on Poole quayside in Dorset. / It was the combination of some nice lines on the ground and in the stones in the building that appealed to me as much as the anchor itself.
This is another shot taken at Peggy’s Cove. I thought this was a nice angle and liked the shadow and light on the building. I wish I owned this property!

It was the end of a gorgeous day at White Point Beach Lodge on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. The sun was shining down on parts of the white wash and making it glow so pretty that I had to capture a bit of it.
This boat belongs to a good friend of mine who owns a country cottage in my hometown of West Pennant, Nova Scotia, Canada. The title of this piece is the name of his vessel. My friends mother is very important to him and allowed him to have his dream get away so he named his boat in her honour. When he was a child she used to call his wee wee, you guessed it, Gullingo! LOL

My town ( Newcastle ) had it’s annual Maritime Festival today, and as a part of the celebration it had a nautical display. The Young Endeavour is a Tall Ship that is a replica of the ship that captain Cook used in the late 18th century to discover Australia. This is the rigging of the ship, taken from the Foreshore at Newcastle East.

They say that physical activity is a fountain of youth. I certainly agree when looking at the Tugboat Daniel McAllister ! This is the largest preserved tug in Canada, and the second-oldest preserved oceangoing tug in the world. She was originally launched in 1907 under the name of Helena , working the Atlantic coast. In the 1940s, she was converted from a steam to a diesel engine, while serving on the Great Lakes. She underwent a complete refit in 1956, and was renamed Helen M.B. Then she acquired her final name of Daniel McAllister in the 1960s (after a member of an important ship owning family), and retired from service in the 1980s. She is now displayed in the Old Port of Montreal, as part of the Musée maritime du Québec (maritime museum) to ensure her preservation. This is a composite made of the three images below: My original image was shot in the Old Port of Montreal, 2 weeks ago. The boat looked so new compared to the old grain elevators in the background, which are only a year older, but look much more the worse for wear. One of the textures that I photographed on the same day, to which I added a vignette. Available for free download under a Creative Commons Licence. This texture is a photo of a rock wall stained with limescale that I shot three weeks ago. I thought that it fit the theme very nicely, and gave a nice aged look to the image.
