Copy of Mario Sironi “Nudo – albero”
The original is a water color painting. Painted on a very absorbent etching paper, painted in watercolours. / Original available for purchase from www.artbymariodonk.com
The original is painted in egg tempera, an emulsion consisting of sun thickened linseed oil, water, a whole egg and damar this being the medium that is mixed with pure pigment. Painted on a Gesso coated panel. The painting is of a beach south of Wollongong (Australia). It was painted in the studio using sketches made on location. The steel pipe breaking the horizon produced a feeling of tension with the approaching storm as it seemed a likely target for a lightning strike. But the main thing that caught my interest was the rocks, almost as if some one had put them there and the play of light on the pebbles that where everywhere
The original of this is painted in watercolor, whatever my mood was this is the result. Hope you like it, I do.
The original is a watercolor of a studio space , (mine) they keep changing in size and location. I painted this one night as I thought I had nothing to paint, I was wrong, it came out good. / Paper is Arches medium 300gsm, paint was Rembrandt brand watercolour, Water colour. Just playing around. Actually I find that is the only way, messing with watercolour. You have fun and if your lucky it works. May not sound professional but it’s the honest professional truth. / I have no idea what I am doing… / ...and yet Original not for sale at this time www.artbymariodonk.com

Yes, I’m always on the lookout to depict a common scene from an uncommon angle. This shot was taken five weeks ago, on 24 May, in the last week of the Australian autumn. I was walking up the Bourke Street Mall when I noticed this cluster of flags and I was about to shoot them front-on against a shop facade. Then I realised there was a better shot if I kept walking and turned round in the other direction. By doing so, I was facing a crisp, clear blue sky, the perfect foil for these long rectangular flags. More to the point, by shooting from this angle, the actual lettering on the flags is the wrong way around – so it’s kind of irresistible to try and sit there for a couple of extra moments and work out what the message is. Just for the record, the flags were advertising last month’s “Melbourne Italian Festival”. The criss-cross wires above the mall made an interesting addition to the image – and if you look really carefully, you’ll see the Commonwealth Bank building in almost-perfect alignment with the keyboard emblazoned on the last flag in the corner. I waited several seconds for the breeze to favour me – and this was the best shot I could manage. So tell me: did you notice the office block immediately – or did this text bring it to your attention? I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F9.5, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, 30mm. 114-6949

A Mario Mushroom made out of paper that I stole from my brothers room. I put it on the grass to give it a good background. Taken using a Fujifilm Finepix Z20fd.
