My version of a Thomas Bush Hardy (1842-97). From an 1895 watercolour of Ramsgate Harbour. A panoramic shaped painting, 23” x 10”. / Hand-made, 140lb rough paper. Over 20 hours work. Multiple layers of semi-transparent and opaque watercolour, and white zinc gouache for highlights. Viewing in larger size is necessary.

This original acrylic on masonite depicts the 327’ Coast Guard Cutter Taney during the l960’s on a typical day in the North Atlantic. I served on her sister ship, Cutter Spencer, and experienced many days like this, and worse, during my many North Atlantic Patrols.

There are two distinct things about Kimmeridge, one of them is the smooth rounded rocks, and the other is the Clavell Tower, a Victorian Folly, seen here in the background. This tower has recently completed a journey of some 100 metres, ston by stone, away from the cliff edge; to stop it from falling into the sea. Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20, ND grads

Went down to Ricketts Point at sunset and was given a pretty good show shortly after the sun went over the horizon, how can that happen the sun doesn’t move? It got pretty windy and my remote decided to stop working but it was worth the 10 second wait for the self timer :) Taken with a Canon 400D and polariser as well as an ND4 grad filter, worked on in Adobe Lightroom 2. This 16”X20” original acrylic painting depicts the Halfmoon on patrol in the North Atlantic battling heavy seas. I served on a ship of this type in the l960’s and have encountered many days of rough seas.

Taken at Ricketts Point in Victoria shortly before the sun went down. It seems this seascape thing is developing into quite a passion. Canon 400D, Adobe Lightroom 2 processed. Grad and polariser filters used :) Inspired by a Presets song… Over and outside / And under / Over a new sky / I wonder I’m on my way getting pulled to the light / Baby don’t know baby don’t see you / Baby wont fear tonight / Clearing my eyes ‘cause it’s so hard to see / If a girl were to come up way with me And it’s alright it wont be long / You feeling something / So wont you come outside with me? / And it’s alright sing like a song / And now you’re flying / So wont you come and fly with me? What striked me about this lone starfish walking the tidepools at low tide was the beauty of the contrasting colours and textures laid bare until the ocean retrieve it back into its safe keeping. Photo taken by Canon IXUS

A very windy night ahead although it may look calm enough. Got to see some great colours in the sky, unfortunately didn’t last all that long.

Lakes entrance is a fishing port and tourist town located on the Southeastern coast of Victoria, Australia. It is near a natual channel which connects the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Straight. The town has been a popular holiday destination for generations of Victorians, yet has managed to retain its smalltown rural charm. Surfing on the nearby Ninety Mile Beach is a popular attraction, as is fishing from the many piers and bridges in the area. Family entertainment such as minigolf and the popular Shell Museum cater to all ages. This sunset was truly one of the most magnificent I’ve ever seen. Everyone in the town stopped to watch the spectacle and I shot many dozens of photos, trying to capture the glorious warm golden light that flooded the river. This is also my most successful attempt at a High Dynamic Range photo. I took three exposures at different settings to try and capture a broader range of detail in the highlights and shadows, and manually merged them together in photoshop.
