Marilyn Monroe was and still is the definitive Icon of past and present glamour ala sexy femininity however it is perceived sometimes positive sometimes not so positive. This graphic is a big time favorite of mine. I distilled the essence of what fans or observers of Marilyn Monroe perceived of her…but for me she was as fragile as a beautiful rose to bloom stunningly and then way too soon like all beautiful roses they fade or are pressed into a keepsake before they fade…this is a keep sake for Norma Jeane Mortenson just a girlie girl who magnificently exceeded her fifteen minutes of fame and was and is forever young. I did this shoot in college for a portrait project where we had to recreate famous portraits. I chose to remake this one http://web.naplesnews.com/ceandw/122006/images/cal_MarilynBallerina.jpg / I got help with the lighting set up then I adjusted it and took it. My second time with studio lighting !! I got my make up done in the makeup department and the wig there to. / I wanted to do it properly. / canon 1000d

A tribute to The Goddess Marilyn, from my “Black Butterfly” series. From a reference photograph of the last sitting by Bert Stern. Charcoal and pastel on mylar drafting film, 20×16” The butterflies in this case symbolize the artist’s muse – and also are a premonition of the death of the goddess. The drafting film is translucent, so I have used a white paper under the film for brightness on this ethereal subject. I work on the frosted side of the paper for tooth. The mylar lends a lovely soft effect.

It is low-branching with a spreading open crown. It sheds its bark in irregular patches in autumn, leaving a smooth white to yellow, olive-green or brown surface, occasionally with scribbly markings from insect lavae. Flowers appear in spring and early summer. They are white or cream.

It can be found in parks and gardens in many parts of Australia and is well established overseas (eg. Algeria, Brazil, France, India, Spain and Portugal). Tasmania blue gum – E. globulus; found in eastern and south-eastern Tasmania, as well as in the islands of Bass Strait. It also occurs in southern Victoria; flowers occur singly in the leaf axils; rough bark usually retained at base of trunk. It is the floral emblem of Tasmania. Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Eye See You This Pelican at Monkey Mia, Western Australia, was very different from the ones I had seen before (Australian Pelican). Have included some information regarding the Australian Pelican: The Australian Pelican Australia’s largest flying bird, the pelican has a wingspan of 3.5m and the world’s longest bill at 47cm, with an expandable pouch to hold fish. They forage day and night, alone or in groups, driving fish into the shallows and catching them with their bills. They roost on mudbanks and islands, fluttering their pouch skin to keep cool. They sometimes migrate long distances, flying in loose V formation or in line, soaring up to 3,000m high. They nest in colonies on islands and the chicks gather in groups. Their diet consists of fish and crustaceans. They inhabit fresh and saline lakes, rivers and swamps.
