The peristyle around Palazzo Ducale in Venice, Italy, where one finds tourists and locals alike – idling time, strolling, reading a book, or just resting. The colonnade, complete with rows of gothic columns and arches, the marble patterned floor, and the grilled arch windows render an unusual depth to the scene. Looking up from the middle landing of the staircase just gives you even more ornate and wonderful things to look at, different colours of marble, the lovely colours of the wood and the nice reflection in the glass. I really do like this stair case!
The architecural detail on the inside of the Wisconsin State Capital was simply incredible. This is an HDR image, then converted to B&W. Somehow I really managed to get a 3-D effect out of this. For a view in color, click below: / To see an outside view of this buiding: /
My daughter was looking at a marble through a magnifying glass and I couldn’t help but notice how pretty the sun and clouds looked in the reflection.

ok admit it .. you used to either play marbles or are still collecting them .. new or old .. what a marvelous toy .. an object of beauty .. my favorite were tiny little one color crystal marbles .. my grandfather used to store them in the old Prince Albert pipe tobacco cans … not only did he have the little crystal ones but also the ‘real’ aggies, cats eyes and more … a treasure for me to play with ..oh how I loved those marbles. I grew up and when my grandmother died my grandfather got rid of most everything and the marbles are lost but I still remember them … work done in Mind Boggling Fractals MBR. Fontfroide Abbey or l’Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Fontfroide is a former Cistercian monastery in France, situated 15 kilometers south-west of Narbonne near to the Spanish border. / It was founded in 1093 as a Benedictine monastery by the Viscount of Narbonne, but remained poor and obscure until in 1144 when it affiliated itself to the Cistercian reform movement. When Saint Bernard visited the Languedoc in 1145, it joined the order of the Cistercians. / The premises, which are of very great architectural interest, passed into private hands in 1908, when the artists Gustave and Madeleine Fayet d’Andoque bought it to protect the fabric of the buildings from an American collector of sculpture. They restored it over a number of years and used it as a centre for artistic projects. / It still remains in private hands. It has a small working farm, bookstore and restaurant and also produces wine. Sony Cybershot DSC-T1 TOP TEN CHALLENGE PLACEMENT: / Mood & Ambience – Strictly Photos – Columns – July 09
This was inspired by Francesca Thanks Fran for showing me the way. I got a spare bit of time Saturday morning as we’d had a powercut and couldn’t do anything so it gave me some time to get the camera out and have a go at this, as I’ve been meaning to for ages. It’s a tough job balancing those marbles ;o) Taken with Sony alpha 350 & 16-105 Sony lens

Not to sound depressed, or melancholy, I just thought I would give something to those who will be alone for the thanksgiving holiday. Those who are away from family, unable to reach them. Or for those who don’t have somewhere to go. For those who just don’t have family. That there is a place in my heart for them. To embrace the season to give. My gift to all of us who do not have someone, or people for the holiday season.
