Edition : MhDkHr. Janeway: Listen, why don’t we begin with what happened tonight, hmm? Perhaps you could… you know, give me some of the details. / Babe: I was here, Doc… died, you came. / Janeway: That’s it? / Babe: I’m a demon for details. / (Memorable quotes for / Marathon Man (1976)
3pm, Sunday 13 April 2008…. the London Marathon…. Aftermath… / Just love the banana skins on the top of the bin, and the broken umbrella. This is the bit of the marathon that the runners and spectators don’t see, but just a big a part of it as the actual race. Thank you for looking
A Lego version of Norman Potter’s 1954 photograph of Roger Bannister breaking the four-minute mile, completing the distance in 3 min 59.4 sec at Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, May 6, 1954.
Taken in 1966, this is one of my favourite images of the 60’s of the iconic DJ, Sir Jimmy Savile OBE. I took the shot when I was 20 during my assistant days at 1:15 am, after a long advertising shoot for a petrol company with my boss, top fashion and advertising photographer John Cowan. I asked Sir Jim if I could run a couple of rolls of film for my portfolio. True gent that he is, Jim said “Sure!” even though every one was pretty tired after the 5 hour gasoline ad session. Anyhow, this is the result and it remains one of my favourite pictures to this day as it shows Sir Jim as he really was and is – a strong and generous human being who did not take himself too seriously. You are a true professional Jim, and I am eternally grateful to you for giving me this opportunity. Technical Details: Camera: Hasselblad 500C / Lens: 80mm Planar / Film: Tri-X / ASA: 400 rated at 200 / Exposure: 1/125 sec at f/16 / Lighting: 5,000 Joule Strobe in perspex light bank. © 1966 John Hooton Photography

the day of the new york marathon 08. very sunny and it had a great atmosphere! this was taken very close to the marathon finish line.
With all the Batman & Joker designs that are here on the bubble I thought there was room for something a little different. In fact I think this may well have been the inspiration for the ‘Why So Serious’ line in the Movie ‘The Dark Knight’. / Its from the movie ‘The Marathon Man’ Starring Dustin Hoffman & Sir Lawrence Olivier. This is Dr Szell & when it comes to being ‘Evil’ he had an honours degree. / Sir Lawrence Olivier put a lot of work into this character & the result was a superbly crafted piece of acting.
Took part in a photography Marathon, the 23rd such event in fact held in Palma de Mallorca on Sunday the 25th of January. / There were ten themes to shoot and this was number 5 handed out at the second control point, Orange. No kidding it was Colours. Pretty broad themes throughout, they were: / Near & around the Cathedral / People / Doors / Details of Palma / Colours / Plaza Mayor / Palm Trees / Bikes in Palma / A city Street / Free theme / 10 images from 9.30 to 5pm So here’s fingers crossed. This one I did not enter for it’s theme but a more cheeky shot.
Watercolour on Arches cold pressed paper 18” x 24” The town of Marathon, Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Superior has the advantage of this beautiful view from the only road leading into town! I thought a car would add interest to the painting, and then thought, what the heck, let’s make it a Model T Ford! Laura Lea Comeau, who lives in Marathon, and is a Red Bubbler, has also painted this scene (we have painted a few of the same landscapes, Laura Lea using acrylics and me using watercolors). / To view her version of this scene click here
Watercolour painting 18” x 24” on Arches paper Pebble Beach in Marathon, Ontario where the rocks are very difficult to walk on, being the size of five pin bowling balls! One could easily twist an ankle. The ever-present driftwood and sparkling, crystal clear water always give the visitor a spectacular view, though; well worth the arduous walk to the water’s edge.
.Sorry folks of uploading so many Pelican shots getting ready for a new Calendar / I like to thank everyone for all the kind comments and favs on my pelican series / very much appreciated
Don’t you just love the anticipation, cheerfulness and bright looks to the future that kids have. / It is so comforting to see it, and how it differs from the looks of the people we see on TV almost every day. / I hope that their time will come just in time to change something in this silly world of ours. / This photo is taken during Belgrade marathon 2009, the little girl was waiting with the great excitement for the runners to pass by and i was really blessed to witness it. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- / “LIFE that is Coming” is ranked in top 10, “What Is Life To You?” challenge, “Who Needs Color For Beauty? – Black & White Art At Its Best” group
