Acrylic on board. Based on the beautiful song of the same name written by Mr. Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish. Their music is a neverending source of inspiration for me. I wanted to give something back… “Born from silence, silence full of it / A perfect concert my best friend / So much to live for, so much to die for / If only my heart had a home Sing what you can`t say / Forget what you can`t play / Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes / Walk within my poetry, this dying music / - My loveletter to nobody” A lonely soul… An ocean soul…”
Besides emailing etc. i wish people still write ordinairy letters or notes as well, if not, their handwritng becomes inreadable, unless you are a pharmacist… There is a version for dark shirts as well. In my zazzle shop you can find the same design showed on different models, colours and the backside printed with logo and instruction. A few of us of a certain vintage may remember this Tutor … ?! My neighbour was so bemused at my attempts to photograph his dying Gardenias that he picked me a whole bunch! They have the most wonderful cream and coffee tones … I thought they suited this old manuscript. Treated in CS3 for a more vintage effect and an overlay blended of rumpled paper. As a huge fan of Alias, I couldnt dedicate something to the vision of Milo Rambaldi.
Writer and anthropologist, Zora Neale Hurston, documented African American folklore and authored plays and novels. A favorite of mine to read and teach is Their Eyes Were Watching God. Upon her death, all of her belongings were ordered burned. Fortunately her friend, Patrick Duval, who was a St. Lucie County deputy sheriff, came upon the fire and extinguished it. The image of the manuscript is from Seraph on the Suwanee. It was pulled from the fire. Years after her death, Alice Walker placed a marker on what was thought to be Zora’s unmarked grave, saying that “A people do not forget their geniuses.” “Zora Neale Hurston: A Genius of the South” is written on the gravestone. I’ve had my nose buried in the art of Da Vinci over the past couple of days, re-familiarizing myself with his mastery. / As much as I love his paintings, it’s his sketchwork that intrigues me the most…... his sketch workups for his paintings have such humanity in them, his invention sketches showing us a tiny glimpse of his genius, & those anatomy sketches giving us some insight into his constant need for knowledge…. Sadly I haven’t drawn anything for almost 5 years, but today the great Master has inspired me to pick up a pen after all this time, & I have to say it feels great! This image began life 12 years ago as a single line drawing hastily sketched as a thought came into my head. I’ve often looked at it with stirrings of interest….. / So today, with visions of Da Vinci & ancient manuscripts in my head I am drawing again . Bwahah!! / PLEASE read this: / OK, I just looked and here we are, TEN DAYS before the voting begins, and there are at least 14 million TERRIFIC entries for this RedBubble-wide Music Machines Challenge. Seriously! After you’re done giggling at my silliness, go look! So why did I make this goofy t-shirt? I had several pretty decent ideas for the challenge. One of them is already on one of the entries!! The idea was so good, someone else thought of it first!! And did a better job than I would have. I’m not a whizz-bang-fabulous draw-er and I’ve never even come close to being “cool.” So, with this shirt I’ve chosen the nerdy musician approach, one I can relate to. This enthusiastic little guy is my idea of a music machine. He looks very much like a someone I used to know, who would turn a scary crimson when he sang. I spent three years of my college career in a Bachelor of Music program, with a Vocal/Choral major, so singing is one of my first loves and I know how much energy is converted to make good sound! / If a machine is something that converts energy to something else, then our mechanism for singing should be considered a machine. Maybe not a supercool one, though…hee!!!
(5×7 Mixed Media on Cardstock) Another tribute to a fascinating time in history(In my opinion, anyway, although I hope many would agree) I used a free musesum guide to Illuminated Manuscripts; then I basically cut it up and re-assembled it. Next, I added Fancy buttons(I have quite a collection of buttons in all shapes & sizes) An antique-looking key and lots of gold paint(from a paint pen, which makes cleanup a lot easier),As a finishing touch,I used one of my decorative scissors(of which I have several since they’re inexpensive and add that extra something to what are often otherwise boring edges;-)
No description necessary, really. It is all about the atmosphere. Enjoy : )
