The quality of the available record players, tonearms, and cartridges has continued to improve, despite a diminishing market.

  • A wonderful aspect of places like Syria, is that small family industries still run side-by side with bigger factories – everybody has a place. This shot shows a man shaping an aluminium kitchen pot on an old rotating lathe. It takes him a couple of seconds to complete, before it is passed to another man who adds handles in another few seconds. It is great to still see such skill and craft in action in the real world, but sadly the question always remains as to how long before large industries take over completely.
