Lake Faak When I was on my way back from a hiking tour my ex-girlfriend said:”Look to the lake. It’s so beautiful”. I turned the car to the side and got some beautiful pics. / Lake Faak (Faaker See, Carinthia, Austria) is one of the most beautiful lakes in Carinthia. Clean water, surrounded by a wonderful landscape and a little cute island in the middle. / Here is a short description in english: link I made here a HDR pic with Photomatix out of three pics. I merged two HDR pics together. In the first i focused on the background. In the second i tried to get the optimum for the waterscape. I’m happy, it turned out very good (I think so;-)). enjoy the wonder of nature update: 24.12.2008 group feature in Rivers, Lakes and Dams (what a christmas present) / 02.01.2009 group feature in Stillness Speaks (wohoo) —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Location: Lake Faak / Date: September 20th, 2008 / Light Conditions: Twilight / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Camera: Canon EOS 400D / Lens: Canon EFS 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM / Focal Length: 35 mm / Flash: - / Flash Mode: - Shutter Speed: 1/6 sec, 0.6 sec, 2.5 sec / Aperture: 11 / ISO: 200 Tonemapping: 3 exposures Filters: / - Hoya Circular Polarizer —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / My pictures are not stock-pictures. This is an Ebony Leaf Monkey (Javan Lutung). They aren’t the most attractive of primates but they have a fascinating, haunting look to them. They are a critically endangered species due to habitat destruction caused by palm oil, logging and other human activities. Their dwindling population is thought to be between 2500-4000 individuals. Not many at all… They are also popular victims of the exotic pet trade. / You can help Silvery Gibbons by clicking here My article on palm oil and its effect on Orangutans can be found here My Gibbon Images http://www.animusphotography.com
Monkey man, monkey man, there’s soul within his eyes, / He looks about the world around, and in his silence, sighs, / At beasts who rule with giant brains, but with so tiny heart / And wonders of the freedom time, when they shall all depart. The thoughts of this tiny creature matter how much in our world? / And how much better a world would it be, if even such a small life mattered. Inspired to photograph by the life that lives in these eyes. / Inspired to post it here by the wonderful work of Natalie Manuel
