  • Mannum, South Australia

  • This looks to be an old shearing shed of sorts but also looks to be the house as there are fire places inside (I doubt the shearer would need a roaring fire while he was at work!). / This building is on the road between Mannum and walker Flat in South Australia. / . / / . / / . / / . / / . / / . /

  • Late night sunset River Murray, Mannum, South Australia.

  • Last light, sunset, Mannum South Australia. It was just before dark driving along the River Murray heading towards Mannum and I saw the light through the willows lining the banks. Just had to stop for this shot.

  • Last light looking across the mighty Murray River at Mannum, South Australia. A magnificent stretch of the River, and yes still with plenty of water for tourists and photographers…..

  • Last light with a storm approaching near Mannum South Australia. Image taken at the front of the Younghusband general store. HDR conversion of three images. Whilst the River is in trouble and drought effects us every day the communities along the river deserve our support and encouragement. There is still plenty to do and see along these stretches of the river. Tourism is often their lifeblood so with our sky’s and weather at the moment its a great time to visit.

  • River Front Gazebo, Captured at Sun Set just out of Mannum, SA, an appreciated tip of approaching weather change from a keen and respected fellow photographer and saw us get some great shots that evening. / First thing that came to mind was how many good times would have been had on that gazebo – Glass of Wine and a Cheese Platter???

  • Last light – Mannum South Australia, looking across the mighty Murray River. Shot taken between Mannum and Younghusband standing amongst willows and surrounded by beautiful water birds. Still plenty of water in this stretch to wet the imagination and see tremendous sights at sunrise and sunset. Many thanks to David and Wendy at the Mannum Motel for their help locating the best sites for images along this section of the river. They now run photography tour packages and I found it a great way to spend a couple of days recently.

  • Again last light on my most recent visit to Mannum on the River Murray. Thanks to Dave from the Mannum Motel for taking me to this spot as part of their photography tours setup. An amazing sky and sundown all at the same time. The Murray even though under stress continues to serve as the main lifeblood of this region. There is still plenty to see, do, and places to visit so don’t give up on the people along the whole Murray who need us to keep on visiting to keep their businesses alive…

  • Image taken on the Murray River between Younghusband and Mannum ferries South Australia. The last from my most recent trip to Mannum. The sky was unbelievable and just so powerful. This seems to have worked much better in B&W given the colours of the night. Thanks again to Dave from the Mannum Motel for sharing this place with his son and I. Many thanks to those who pointed out the dogs face in the lower half of the image. Now I cant look without seeing it. By the way its naturally occurring no photoshop magic here.

  • I took this shot on a family houseboat weekend on the River Murray near Mannum.

  • This is the colour version of the HDR sunset shot at Mannum that has come up with an amazing dogs face in the lower left portion of the image. Shot taken between Mannum and Young Husband near the Marina. No photoshop manipulation the dogs face just appeared. Dave from mannum was with me that night shooting just a little to my right and the face didn’t appear in his images. Canon 400D polarising filter – 18- 55 lens HDR and converted in Photomatix…

  • Old run down slat walled building on the outskirts of Mannum South Australia. A stunning piece of history left to decay in the weather. Canon 400D – 18 – 55 with Polarising filter – converted in B&W in Photoshop CS3.

  • Another gorgeous sun set out of Mannum! The deep Blue sky, with wispy white clouds approaching made it worth while being late for work!! (self employed!) Taken just out of Mannum SA on the River Murray Canon 400D, 18/55 kit lense, Polariser, HDR, merged in PhotoMatix, finished in CS2

  • Neglected and weather beaten, this old place sits high on a almost barren hill not far from Mannum South Australia. Same place, but a different angle to “Hill top house” Canon 400D 18/55 kit lense, 2 shot HDR, photomatix, CS2

  • Another from the series of last light shots – across the beautiful river Murray near Mannum South Australia. Three shot panorama stitched in Photoshop CS3. BEST viewed in Large. Canon 400D, CIR Polarising filter – Black and White conversion completed in CS3.

  • Another image from the late night shoot near Mannum South Australia. Just love the River Murray and the starkness of the willow trees lining the banks in this spot create wonderful silhouettes at last light. Thanks to Dave and River Rat from Mannum (mannum Motel) for their support in joining me on these repeat visits to this magical little strip of the river. Canon 400D, CIR polarising filter. 18-55 lens.

  • Take a long walk off a short Jetty….... Did as I was told for once! Taken on the Murray River at Mannum South Australia, this jetty was the main meeting place for kids to swim from – now it is some 2meters out of the water. Although the water level has dropped a long way – we still have another 10 – 12 meters to go before we will be in real trouble! Great sunrise this morning, the water was mirror image, and the lighting spectacular. Canon 400D 18/55 kit lense, 3 shot HDR, Cropped in CS2

  • The end of another day on the Murray River at Mannum South Australia – it’s sun sets like this that makes me appreciate how lucky we are to have this mighty River running past my front door. Canon 400D – 18/55mm kit lense 3 shot HDR, CS2, Photomatix.

  • Again another early visit to the river banks at Mannum in South Australia. There is so much talk about the lack of water in the River Murray yet it still flows and there is plenty to do and see along it’s length. Early morning sunrise HDR with wonderful cloud lines floating down the river. If your interested in river photography see my journal entry re an upcoming photography river cruise from mannum in June. Canon 400D 18 -55 with polarising filter. Three shot HDR converted in photomatix. My apologies to all of those who have visited lately. I have been away with work and will shortly start getting back to you all regarding your recent comments and visits.

  • The light at dusk created this golden line of trees which were then reflected briefly in the water. / The River Murray, Mannum, South Australia Canon 50D / Sigma 10-20 mm

  • Last light – Mannum South Australia. Bold vibrant glowing sky finishing off the night, seen through the frame of a windmill with another in the background. Thanks to Dave Hartley from the Mannum Motel for the trip and chance to shoot a sky like this!!!! Shot taken between the Mannum township and Greenings landing at Mannum. Canon 400D – 17-85 lens.
