For some reason I always find myself drawn to the moon in my greatest times of adversity…. seeking solace in the Mother Goddess maybe….. perhaps some ritual remnant of pagan ancestors….. Either way, it soothes me. The ritual known as Drawing Down the Moon is the Wiccan/pagan ritual of drawing the spirit of the Goddess/moon into the practitioner to enable the Goddess to speak directly through this person. / It is a very sacred ritual amongst followers of this faith. Santiago, capital city of Chile. This is the view from the top of the look out at St Lucia Park. The building that leads the climb to the top is seen in World Forgotten. There is nothing like being in a city and being able to see snow capped mountain tops in the near distance. (45 bus ride takes you to the Andes Mountains). As incredible a place as Santiago is, the city has unfortunately been built in a valley, which has trapped the smog and pollution over the years. The view of the Andes, as seen here, is slowly being obliterated by the smokey sky. After speaking with a few locals, they are predicting only 10 – 20 years until the view is faded away to smog totally. It will be a sad day indeed, when the Andes can’t be seen at such a short distance. This is a shot of a piano at my aunt’s house. I’ve been toying with the idea of using it for a piece and tonight, it all came together. I’ve lost count on how many times I have heard someone say “music isn’t what it used to be”. For the first half of my life, it was something parents and adults would say to us as the younger generation. Most of the time to rolling eyes, together with the generational term “whatever”. Now however, I catch myself thinking the same thing when I listen to the radio! Were our parents so wrong? Or do we all become stuck in our ways, sounds and ideals on life at a certain age, and as a result, are less accepting of the changes and fads the younger generation create? Who knows! This little baboon was all by his lonesome on the branch of a dead tree, on the banks of The Chobe River, Botswana. We were wondering why he was all alone, while a whole congress of baboons were having the time of their lives further down the bank. Our guide told us he was banished from the congress, either temporarily, or permanently. I felt a bit bad for this guy, but then again, don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time! Original shot destaurated and layered with texture from www.deviantart.com – struckdumb. Colour desaturated in one layer of texture and increased in second.
