Looks so toxic. The Golden Compass movie is coming out and I was reading the sequel last night and thinking a lot about Dust (yes the capital D was intentional ^^). The background kind of reminded me of how I thought of Dust and Dark Matter and all that :) There’s this great quote from the book that says: “You have to beconfident and relaxed at the same time. You have to be capable of being in uncertainties, mysteries, doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact and reason. You have to get into that state of mind.” Which reminded me of Astral Projection. Which reminded me of the band Astral Projection. And Aurelius is doing this weird manip of me as a robot and he told me to look at it while listening to Astral Projection… so I turned it on and threw it together. Aaaand that’s basically what inspired this piece. Though really I was just bored and decided to do another manip hehe. It screams Marry Poppins.

I can create more classic imagery with it; something that I cannot express with my paintings. Late one night as I just started to get to sleep Radiohead’s “Pyramid Song” came on and suddenly an idea came to me about the “Black eyed angel” mentioned in the song, I quickly sketched the idea down and the next day I used a piece of stock photography I had (from iStockPhoto) to create this work. I’m rather pleased with the end result, I think it has a nice mix of melancholy, sadness, otherworldliness, and for some reason security…

Seriously! / It sometimes hurts my brain when I think about Purposes, Purposes for anything and everything, actions, existence, life, heat, gravity or whatever. / I always end on the same thought. There is none, or at least none that our minds can comprehend. We just live to die and leave either a Bank Account, or Debts to be paid for the next, and they don’t learn and do the same when its their turn to come, its inevitable. / One day I hope to not believe this and either not care “Why?”, or find another answer that I can believe, or at least pretend to beleive. But my mind does not behave itself, It fixates on what I don’t want to think about, Death, War, Hate, Love, Sickness, health, Space, God, Human Nature, creation, Obliteration…....... / / If you try to imagine your Existence a decade before your birth, and I mean really try, Where are you in this time? / If your mind starts to hurt, you are probably feeling what I feel when I think about this. What is Reality anymore? Why is it that a dream is so definitely a dream? why do we wake up in the “Real World” and say ‘Oh it was just a dream’ why do we not wake up in the dream world and say the same? A mind can wonder around trying to think of its reasons and what is absoluteness, but suddenly, once it is settled on a thought that pleases it, a train of supposed rationality crashes through the supports you spent so much time building and fortifying. A sudden Boom and in an instant your ideas of reality become ruble and burning carnage, your thoughts destroyed beyond recognition. At this moment you find yourself lost once more, with an inability to find your way down again because you have no clue what down really is, questioning everything trying to find out what it is that is so real about the real world. .
