If you use inverse coordinates in a classic Mandelbrot escape time fractal you get a drop-shape figure like this. Right in the middle you see infinity – the tentacles are pointing at it. An experiment with the idea of a self-documenting t-shirt. The design contains a simple plot of a Mandelbrot Set which is overlaid with the ruby code that was used to produce it. The code itself emits a monochrome PBM file which I then converted into a PNG and then used Photoshop Elements to merge it with the code that produced it. Ideally, the ultimate version of the t-shirt would be the one that contained the code that produces a finished PNG that can simply be uploaded to RedBubble with no manual fiddling. All in good time…
I love this image, produced with MBF Lite. The colours are just amazing. Apologies to all of you who’ve been fiddling around with fractals far longer than me – you’ve probably seen this a thousand times before.
