The small waterfall of Janet’s Foss is a popular place for families to visit as it is conveniently situated next to the roadside between Malham and Gordale Bridge. In past times the pool below the waterfall was a sheepwash for local hill farmers. A good spot too, on the road to market to get the sheep looking their best. The Foss is a single drop waterfall of about 4 metres. Oh, Janet was a local fairy who lived in a cave behind the waterfall. Really!

Malham Cove is a natural limestone formation near Malham, North Yorkshire, England. A well-known beauty spot, it comprises a huge, curved limestone cliff at the head of a valley, with a fine area of limestone pavement at the top.

80 metres high, 300 metres wide, once a waterfall , now a massive inland cliff. high above, on the fells lies malham tarn, and on this tarn can be found the house where charles kingsley wrote “waterbabies” i will show the house later, or you can browse for malham cove, a stream runs across the fell from the tarn, and sinks underground, emerging at the foot of the cliff, becoming the source of the river aire! so , Barnsis, is this the biggest stream crossing yet? / see the next pic! / malham cove is in the yorkshire dales national park.
