Just as common as it’s cousin, the mermaid, but far less popular is the maid-mer. / Sailors will never be mystified by their beauty and Disney will never make a movie about them – but boy are they good eating!
This is the result of ‘photographer’s block’ !!! The misty log bench has been processed and languishing in a file for a few months … last night I decided to marry it with a maid to see if I could add some interest. Model stock Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM

Neidpath is a wonderful 13C castle on the banks of the Tweed near Peebles in the lovely scottish borders and a fascinating link here explains more of the history of this special place….) It was attacked in 1650 by Oliver Cromwell who demolished the early tower by cannon fire from the hillside across the river during a seige. / A watercolour depiction of the roundheads siege by the very talented local artist Jack Roney (1920 – 2005) is reproduced below with permission of his family (sorry about the flash on glass ) The castle has an ancient well and pit prison and is also said to be haunted by the ghost of Jean Douglas, referred to by Sir Walter Scott as the Maid of Neidpath in a heartrending poem. The story goes that Jean, youngest daughter of the Earl of March. was forbidden to marry her love who was considered below her station, and she pined while her lover was sent away. When he returned she was so wasted and changed that he didnt recognise her, causing her to die of a broken heart. :(( how sad is that…..:(( She’s said to appear in a full-length brown dress with a large white collar…. Untouched straight from the camera Nikon compact coolpix 4800 / f/4.6 / 1/244 sec / ISO-50 Thanks for looking / cheers / ding / :))) (Inside view of the “castle by candlelight*”: too RCAHMS (The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland) have listed recorded details of this site… although at the present time its no longer open to he public ;))
She used to be a nude, because I painted her for a contest, which of course I did not win. But nudes are not my cup of tea. So I painted a dress on her. Original Art by Angela F. Color, wrinkles, nails, veins, slenderness, length, so many things make up a hand, so many characteristics. Each hand differnt from the last, each hand with it’s own personality, with it’s own story. This hand is of a janitorial woman working in my college. She was taking a break, resting her hand and taking a breath, some peace from her otherwise tiresome day. The contrast of the color of her skin and her clothes, the position and placement of her hand, her posture, everything came together to make this an ordinary yet interesting shot. /
For the card version. Hand drawn, Prisma colored pencils. The close up of Gladys the orchestra’s maid conveying bad news to Hugo the conductor. Scorpionfly Ludmilla hurries by to get to rehearsals

This image was started in hospital after my partner lost a baby and i finished it this week whilst recovering froma liver biopsey so this image has a lot of meaning for me. / I have seen many examples of the three phases of the goddess and these are those i am most drawn to and all have had a place along the path i have chosen. The Morr’igan is the Celtic goddess of sexuality and war, she is powerful knows herself, if she is on yourside you can acomplish anything but betray her and theres a sting in her tail, so be careful and respectful of her at all times. To me the Morr’igan is my femanist side the old me who worked in turning the tide of all those injustices women face in the real world. back then i was known for my flame red hair and my sence of being a women on a mission. Isis, She is the mother her wisdom is still seen today in the images of Mary. She has tolarance and understanding and nurtures new life. And creativity with out which i dont know where i would be today, she is my anchor and link to reality when my brain is away with the fairys, she is the goddess that no matter how drained and down i get helps me to see the need of others. Hercate, the crone she is the wisdom in the darkness, she hold all the secrets of the world, life to her is a endless mystery. in short she knows everything and theres no hiding anything from her. To me shes my guild, my common sence, she helps me see lifes path in many ways and that sometimes you have to turn the puzzel on its head and think outside the box, she is the goddess who helps me keep it together and shares her secret in those littel moments that others miss. now with my hair going grey i feel quite comfetable with her guildance. well there you have it in short i hope these goddesses help you as much as they help me Blessed Be to you all
I was going to use Sjem’s lovely wallpaper design behind this, but i wasn’t sure if it would please him.
