History tells us..that a former king of Thailand set free a white Elephant to roam the lands and mountains around Chiang Mai. Where ever that Elephant stopped would be where the new temple would be built. It so happened to be on the top of Doi Suthep. The Elephant died soon after but is still remembered as part of the temple by a life size statue (not in this picture) The mist was due to the rain that day..soon after torrential rain hit the city of Chiang Mai bringing down its walls and derailing trains..I was lucky..I missed the train by an hour..August 2006. / Views to date: 1480 Sales – 1 x card Featured in Descriptions :)))) Featured in Circles of Latititude Group :)))
A young performer in Chiang Mai taken by stage fright and needing her reassuring friend. The performance seems to have a very local audience, the parents of the performers, but all the tourists were mesmerised by the beauty and quality of the show. A lot of very talented young people, and local dances…
casualco Art based on the French Mai ‘68 riot posters.
Unfortunately this is one of the areas that was affected by “Black Saturday”, I am so hoping that this little pocket of Myrlte beech forest wasnt touched by the fires. There were fires in the Blue Range, Marysville National park. The Myrtle beech trees have been around since the Jurassic period. I stood in the river with my jeans rolled up to my knees, the water had slowed nearly to a stillness as it gathered around the rocks in the water that were covered with moss, as I hit the timer button on my camera in that 10 seconds I had time to reflect on the raw beauty of this ancient forest. The forest that stood before me was thousands of years old. It was summer out beyond these beautiful old trees it was a stinking hot day, the flies stuck to my body, I found relief in the river and under the ancient old tree. Under the ancient trees it was freezing, for some strange reason it was like the middle of winter under the trees and my feet and legs were numb from the icy water that I stood in. Little River, Taggerty, Victoria, Australia. As I stood in the middle of the river and took this photo i couldnt help but think of Melted glass, the water just seemed to melt over the rocks as it flowed down stream. It was definatley a river as it was so noisey as it moved but the rocks that had been placed in the river by humans made it look like melted glass. I used my old Richo Film SLR, / 100 speed, / time delay, / saturated slide film, / tripod, / 100mm – 300mm lense

I have always loved Sea urchins and have always collected them from when i was a child right up into adulthood. They would be the first thing I would look for when I got out of my car and my feet hit the sand on the beach. Suprisingly there arent that many to be found anymore on the beach where I have always gone to find them. sony ax 300 SLR 70 – 200ml lense.

A young Pwo Karen girl in Northern Thailand smokes her tobacco pie while looking after her younger sister. In the 1980s it was common for the children of some hilltribes to smoke rough homegrown tobacco and chew betel. As schools were established the practice has died out. This candid shot was taken in the early 1980s with a nikon FM2, 135mm lense and kodachrome slide film.
