  • Traveling on his way, the Fool first encounters a Magician. Skillful, self-confident, a powerful Magus with the infinite as a halo floating above his head, the Magician mesmerizes the Fool. When asked, the Fool gives over his bundled pack and stick to the Magician. Raising his wand to heaven, pointing his finger to Earth, the Magician calls on all powers; magically, the cloth of the pack unfolds upon the table, revealing its contents. And to the Fool’s eyes it is as if the Magician has created the future with a word. There are all the possibilities laid out, all the directions he can take. The cool, airy Sword of intellect and communication, the fiery Wand of spirituality and ambition, the overflowing Chalice of Love and emotions, the solid Pentacle of work, possessions and body. With these tools, the Fool can create anything, make anything of his life. But here’s the question, did the Magician create the tools, or were they already in the pack? Only the Magician knows – and on this mystery, our eloquent mage refuses to say a word. At #1, the Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud (“And God said ‘Let there be Light!’ and there was Light”). / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / To read more go to this site

  • First Artwork I have done for quite a while, hope you like it :-) “There is a Native American legend that says, ” If you have a secret wish, capture a butterfly and whisper your wish to it. Since butterflies cannot speak, your secret is ever safe in their keeping. Release the butterfly, and it will carry your wish to the Great Spirit, who alone knows the thoughts of butterflies. By setting the butterfly free, you are helping to restore the balance of nature, and your wish will surely be granted.” The butterfly is a powerful symbol for transformation. It leaves the safety of the cocoon in it’s new form. This is an excellent image for anyone contemplating, or in the midst of a major change. A butterfly is a strong symbol of metamorphosis, with distinct stages. The butterfly is a reminder to make changes when the opportunity arises. Change and transformation are inevitable for us all, but it does not have to be traumatic.Butterfly symbolism is also closely tied to the idea of spirits and souls. It has been used in many religions and cultures. Psyche is the Greek word for both soul and butterfly. The belief was that butterflies were human souls searching for a new reincarnation, which gave the creature uncanny and sometimes ominous connotations. This symbolism was also used in early Christianity as a symbol of the soul. Celts thought that women became pregnant by swallowing butterfly souls. These butterfly-souls flew about seeking a new mother.” info from http://kc.8m.com/bflysym.html

  • Panic attacks are unexpected, isolated periods of intense anxiety, fear and distress that are associated with a range of somatic and cognitive symptoms. The onset of these episodes is usually sudden, and may have no apparent start. Although these episodes may appear accidental, they are considered to be a subset of an evolutionary comeback commonly referred to as fight or flight that happen out of context, flooding the body with hormones as particularly adrenalin, that aid in defending itself from harm. The panic attack is different from other forms of anxiety by its concentration and its unexpected, episodic nature. / Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the term for an acute and continuing emotional reaction to an excessive psychological trauma. The latter may involve someone’s real death or a threat to the patient’s or someone else’s life, serious physical injury, or threat to physical and/or psychological uprightness. It is important to make a difference between PTSD and Traumatic stress, which is an alike condition, but of less intensity and length. Hysteria was also related to “traumatic reminiscences” a century ago. At that time, Sigmund Freud’s pupil, Kardiner, was the first to portray what later became known as symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Stress is often defined as the reaction to a situation that threatens the balance or homeostasis of a system.

  • I was lucky enough to spend nearly an hour swimming alongside this juvenille green turtle (Chelonia mydas) on the fringing reef at Lady Elliott Island in the Southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. Lady Elliott is a beautiful island that is home to a wide variety of marine life and seabirds. Best of all the resort is reasonably priced fairly basic accommodation unlike most of the rest of the island resorts in the GBR. If you get the chance then Lady Elliott is well worth the trip. During my week long visit I would have seen more than >10 green turtles, hatchlings on the beach, sharks, rays, gourpers and a myriad of other reef fish. The coral reef on the other side of the island is spactacular with huge plate (Acropora sp.) corals everywhere. It is truly magic.

  • ! / MCN :: C3KL3-EF2AX-113QQ / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / It is amazing that I work best when I have a song running around my head as I am creating the art. With this one I had the lines from Bob Marley’s wonderful “Redemption Song” – Songs of freedom. Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; / None but ourselves can free our minds / which was completely perfect for The Heirophant, who helps you to do exactly that. Old pirates, yes, they rob I; / Sold I to the merchant ships, / Minutes after they took I / From the bottomless pit. / But my hand was made strong / By the hand of the Almighty. / We forward in this generation / Triumphantly. / Won’t you help to sing / These songs of freedom? / ‘Cause all I ever have: / Redemption songs, / Redemption songs. Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; / None but ourselves can free our minds. / Have no fear for atomic energy, / ‘Cause none of them can stop the time. / How long shall they kill our prophets, / While we stand aside and look? Ooh! / Some say it’s just a part of it: / We’ve got to fulfill the Book. Won’t you help to sing / These songs of freedom? / ‘Cause all I ever have: / Redemption songs, / Redemption songs, / Redemption songs. / — / /Guitar break/ / — / Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; / None but ourselves can free our mind. / Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy, / ‘Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time. / How long shall they kill our prophets, / While we stand aside and look? / Yes, some say it’s just a part of it: / We’ve got to fulfill the book. / Won’t you have to sing / These songs of freedom? - / ‘Cause all I ever had: / Redemption songs - / All I ever had: / Redemption songs: / These songs of freedom, / Songs of freedom. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Created in Photoshop CS4. I have made so many versions of The Heirophant – and not been satisfied with any of them, – than as soon as the song came into my head I blasted forward with this one – which I love. The background is a merge of six colour layers, gradients and texture. I wanted the Heorophant to be grounded in earthly things- hence the Oak and the roots. I also wanted her to symbolise wisdom and freedom. The cocoon shell around her is both an artistic device to frame her, but also symbolic of our own cocoons of self -imposed, hidebound rules and regulations, which are not necessary and which keep us safe – but trapped. My thanks go to the following artists for their generous use of stock… / Model / Oak Tree / Key / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / The Heirophant Having created a solid foundation on which to build your future, after meeting the Magician, The High Priestess, the Empress, and the Emperor, you are struck with a sudden fear. What if everything you’ve worked for is taken away? Is stolen, or lost, or destroyed or vanishes? Or what if it is just not good enough? In a panic, you head into a mystical place where you find the Hierophant, a wise teacher and holy woman. Acolytes kneel before her, ready to hear and pass on her teachings. You tell the Hierophant your fears, and ask how you can be free of them. “There are only two ways,” says the Hierophant sagely, “Either give up that which you fear to lose so it no longer holds any power over you, or consider what you will still have if your fear comes to pass. After all,” the Hierophant continues, “if you did lose all you’d built, you would still keep the experience and knowledge that you’ve gained up to this point, wouldn’t you?” The Heirophant will show you that you must not imprison yourself with old long-held beliefs and traditions that no longer work for you, and that stop you reaching your potential. She will tell you to stop using the words “I should…” or “I must”. She will teach you to look at the self-imposed rules and regulations that hold you back from being free. She will free you from your hide-bound ways of doing things – if you listen to her. This surprisingly pragmatic advice releases you from your fear, and you are able to exit out of the sanctuary and face the world’s challenges once again. The Hierophant’s purpose is to bring the spiritual down to Earth. Where the High Priestess between deals with realms beyond this Earth, the Hierophant deals with worldly problems. She is well suited to do this because she strives to create harmony and peace in the midst of a crisis. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / The others in the tarot series are… The Fool / The Magician / The Lovers /
