Well, this is it… I am not officially a RedBubbler, for I love this site. It is nice to have people that do appreciate good photography and art to comment on my works. It feels great, and it does help wanting to upload more stuff. There are lots of great talents here, and this makes it even more interesting. I love the spirit here, love the way the system is build up, and just already love RedBubble… Thanks to all for being part of this, and may you all get what you are looking for here. My daughter and I had a girls day today, just us, complete with dress up and photo shoot and junk food and silly movies! This is how the photos came out so far, The day was gorgeous and the chocolate and salty chips were a real treat, after the chinese take-out. / We had a great time! / The wonderful and imaginative Thomas Dodd suggested she would make a great Alice if I were to do an Alice in Wonderland series, let’s see what I can do with that! / / / The Other Side / / / that one I added texture layers and grunge brush work….. / Painted background behind the “mirror” which is a dodged and painted out window / / Layered with another photoshop layer I made with cloud and wind. /

Over the weekend of Friday 27 February to Sunday 1 March, Ballan Lions Club held its inaugural photography competition and exhibition. Of the exhibitors and competition entrants, seven are members of Redbubble, not to mention key organiser of the event being our own Mick Davson. This was a fantastic opportunity for local photographers to show the local community what we can do. Although sadly I was unable to go to the opening night on Friday, by all accounts it was an impressive and successful opening which included many local dignitaries from the Moorabool Shire. I did manage to capture a couple of exhibitors in the throes of setting up their displays, nervous about the reception they would be receiving, and definitely hating being on the receiving end of a photographer’s pushy requests. Was that me??? Well, I hate it too, but still got a fellow bubbler to do the honours (can’t be hypocritical about this now, can I!) / Mick making sure they’re all straight, for the first of 264 times over the weekend / Kristina doesn’t know it yet, but not all of these photos will be waiting for her to pick them up on Sunday / Trudi awaits the throngs of local art lovers I didn’t catch up with you Tracy but I did see your great photos. I’m rather partial to the ol’ maggie Sam and / Brett were entrants in the photo competition but perhaps they’ll exhibit next year. While taking down our photos late Sunday afternoon I heard the excitement from Kristina who sold a print – well done Kristina … I’m still envious. Nope I didn’t sell anything, but the comments I got from people was so very encouraging and better still, the event raised a rather nice, sizable sum for the Ballan District Hospital. What’s more, it was also an opportunity for people to sign up to a local photography club. There’s quite a few of us around this district! And I’m rapt also to have met a couple of my local fellow bubblers finally. On my own behalf, thank you Mick for doing a fantastic job. It can be a very testing thing to start up a new activity like this. You just never know what response you will get. Will the angst all be worthwhile! I’d say definitely and I’ll sign up for next year’s. Oh, I forgot. That’s me with the cows (pic by Kristina). /

A death, followed by a birth and now – a wedding! Congrats to my dear friend Shell who is finally tying the knot:) Blessings to both of you for now and always:) Its been a hard road these last few months since the cyber predator turned my life inside out – I am still undergoing tests (and will be for months to come yet) as are the other women who he violated and abused in his narcissistic and carnal predations. Well, you know what they say, karma comes back on you when you least expect it, so babycakes, the rule of three does not apply to thee – its the rule of ten with me! My art has suffered somewhat as a result of the recent loss of my treasured four footed bestest friend. I’m more than a little lost without him. But time will heal all wounds they say, its a pity it has to take so bloody long! Am working on some new calendar concepts based around mandalas – so keep an eye out for those! Also will be upgrading to a digital slr soon, too:) Much excitement will ensue! And there is a surprise in the wings! Stay tuned for further details! One of my earlier works, and a photograph of it that I have just stumbled upon. / The work was created on a 35×50cm canvas and was produced following a reproduction from masterpiece of Sheila Wolk’s Metamorphosis. A continuation of a theme. Many many thanks to collectors of my work. I hope that they enjoy my art as much as ı enjoyed painting it! Through my cyber travels i have come across many photographers work that has been stolen and used without their knowledge / And just recently i have found a site that tracks back photos and shows where they are being used on the net / http://tineye.com/ / you simply enter the image address (URL) or choose an image from your HD and the site looks for it in their archives / it even works for images that have been cropped after being stolen or partially photoshopped this is a good example / http://tineye.com/search/0ac89241ed4c8ccd104094f6412ded2e0acfc2d7 / The original is the profile pic of someone who friend requested me on Facebook as something seemed odd/funny about it I put the image through Tineye.com / and you can see the results Another image site which you might like (if you use flickr) is / http://clipyourphotos.com/FP / they serch through the Flickr Front page history for your photos that might have been featured there that you missed any way I hope these are useful for people Cheers Richard

Just my latest thought of the moment….. Some find PHOTOSHOP threatening/some have no understanding of it at all. They are probably the ones who seem to have the most to say about it and the process. The process I use has confused and will continue to confuse the ignorant of what magic can be achieved with this program/tool. I have taken images of hundreds of faces over the time. The process I use to change the characteristics of a face can cause some to say I use the same face in all my images. What ignorance! But what I do does bring some sameness in appearance/it’s all in the eyes. If it was just so simple as replicating and flipping the image…....Layering of images did not begin last week or the week before but years ago, within the walls of the darkroom, in SOME parts of the world. I am pleased that what I produce is causing controversy on the net and elsewhere! Strange how the ignorant speak the loudest. I no longer need to prove to you . I have proved to myself. Please/you need not comment here….....just venting my spleen /words and images rid many demons So strange how acknowledgement brings the critics out of their closet. FOTO PLEASE ENTER
