We are in the very early stages of organising the launch of a Redbubble Magazine which will also be foundation for a competition. The magazine will be a combination of poetry, short stories and images (digital art, illustration etc). We are thinking everybody who is published will get a copy of the magazine plus $100 RedBubble voucher. We are also thinking about two main prizes. / - For the writing side we are inclining towards a first edition (unsigned) Sylvia Plath book of poetry we have access to. (Could also get a signed early Auden if that is more appealing). / - We are not sure what the image people might like. The first edition of the magazine will be mainly for the digital artists and traditional artists (not photographers who have had their go). Question is what would you like? We could get a Wacom Tablet. Or would people prefer something like a collection of Warhol memorabilia or fine art book (eg signed David Hockey book)? So great book or technology gizmo? Let us know and we will try and deliver.

The Fearless shoot was my chance to really plan a shoot unique to my creative relationship with Alexandra Rodionova. My idea was to compare fashion of today with fashion of around the time I was born, (1967). I used two full issues of Andy Warhol’s original Interview Magazine for the background. This was really hard for me, because these are really rare and really expensive. But if I wasn’t going to put everything I had into this it just wouldn’t be worth doing. This was one of those shoots were everything came together. Self portrait - I love these magazines my Grandma gave them to me! all the ones I have are from the early 1940’s this one is my favorite, on the cover is Gloria Grahame she was in some really old films and one of them was It’s a Wonderful Life I can’t remember the other ones but I just love looking through these magazines!

Canon 450D / F-stop: 3.5 (-0.3 exposure bias) / Exposure time: 1/30 sec. / ISO-speed: 200 / Focal length: 18mm Desaturated, then contrastified, then added lots of noize. It’s difficult to work with images that aren’t good quality in the first place.. Experimenting with B&W and noise. / Self-portrait, because I DON’T LIKE THIS SIZE ZERO RUBBISH. Too much pressure on young girls to put their bodies through too much! It should stooooop!! Rant over. Back to the image, you likey? Several months ago I was commissioned to do another cover for Conscious Living magazine here in Australia. The theme was to focus on “wild” and in particular….HORSES! / My first thoughts turned to a good friend and talented photographer here on Redbubble – Gene Praag who regularly captures amazing images of the wild horses in his home state of Utah. / And so I asked this fellow bubbler would he be able to help me with REAL wild horse images to work with, as opposed to me taking shots of local domestic horses and pretending they were “wild”. / From this collaboration I generated several pieces of art, and had loads of fun, and I have to say, both Gene and I were surprised at the magazine’s final choice of one of the less artistic images for their cover this issue….. (and yes, before anyone comments, I reckon Equus is spelled differently…lol) so I decided to share with you, one of the other images created from our joint efforts. SO thank you most sincerely to Gene for his generosity and kindness and for being so helpful in this project…... if you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to check out his amazing portfolio of images featuring the wild horses of the USA captured in their natural habitat, and being …... wild and free….. along with many other beautiful landscapes and subjects….. Thought I should bring this back out of mothballs as will be published in AUSTRALIAN PHOTGRAPHIC SOCIETY’S IMAGE MAGAZINE…..........that is if I can FIND IT in my filing system and by then they may have changed their minds!! STUCK in a HARD PLACE!! CHINA TODAY Today the newspaper triggers my creative thought process and the word is STUCK Yesterday ,as I travelled to Apollo Bay, the word was RAPE strange what you see in that complex network of powerpoles, kilometre after kilometre. HERE YOU and I are also reponsible for this disgraceful behaviour. split values in society! Men MUST be responsible and so MUST women. No use crying “WOLF” after the event. Both women and men MUST protect themselves. Lives changed by foolish decisions. behaviour in society/on the streets which is NOT acceptable. BRUMBY GOVT. allowing MORE party drinking venues in our CITY CENTRE of MELBOURNE. NOT enough police on our streets TELEVISION serving up a pile of RUBBISH ….I see suggested RAPE scenes/SEX on MELBOURNE TV. A warning to the viewer does NOT mean it is ok for US to be served out this RUBBISH/ CERTAIN types of REALITY TV have helped pave the way for this behaviour in our homes/schools/streets/etc…..... / MUSIC:I have listened to music which actually suggests sex/sleeping around….......DRUGS and ALCOHOL RADIO: YOU are also responsible NEWSPAPERS/MAGAZINES: YOU are also responsible. HOTELS : YOU are also responsible CASINOS: YOU also are responsible FOOTBALL CLUBS: YOU are also responsible. COMPANIES/ADVERTISING/billboards: YOU are also responsible SCHOOLS: YOU are also responsible. PARENTS: YOU are also responsible. CATHOLIC CHURCH: YOU are also responsible.
