When I got my Canon PowerShot A640 in the early Summer of 2007 I started taking various shots in the backyard. This image of a purple Iris was one of the first macro shots I had ever taken, and definitely one of my most popular images here on RedBubble. It was named Iris’ Tongue because it looked to me like it was sticking out it’s “tongue”. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” has been shown as a part of the Flower Power Project Exhibition in Frisco, Texas. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” is available in all print formats offered by RedBubble. / / / / / / / / Check out more of my art from these categories: / Holiday Cards / Abstracts / Sketches / Birds / Seascapes/Landscapes/Sunsets / / Subscribe to art updates / Subscribe to T-shirt updates / Become a fan on FaceBook / Add me as a friend on FaceBook / Follow me on Twitter _____________ /

Wild flowers are everywhere throughout the fields and on the roadsides in Turkey this May! As you can imagine I didn’t get far on my bike… / :) A first macro on a borrowed Nikon coolpix 4800 compact and the step up in quality from my usual Fuji Finepix A500 shows! (I was never able to give it back and came to an amicable arrangement…lol…) Taken on macro setting with selftimer and using a pocket sized 4” tripod.. Straight from the camera apart from slight cropping and a great reminder of the swathes of these beautiful flowers
I love how the colors just blended together.. the background is grass. :D

Featured in Dimensions August 20, 2009. Best on Full Size Having some fun with the macro/micro lens in my garden (Montgomery County, Maryland) the other day, August 3, 2009, I found this darling little critter (thought she was a grasshopper but have been told by wiser heads than mine that she’s a Katy-Did) enjoying brunch. Loved the way she munched away on the flower thingie like a cob of hot buttered corn!!!! Handheld image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 60mm Nikon macro/micro lens. Shutter 1/640, aperture f/13, exp -.33, iso 200. Minor cropping and levels work in Photoshop.
