Macro nail using light and shadows.
Taken in macro mode on Thursday August 14 2008. I like the way the light cast the shadows across the countertop.

My new interest… shadow. I am a bit fascinated with it at the moment and have been greatly inspired by an RB artist Barbara Corvino who is very clever at capturing shadow in really creative and interesting ways. This photo was taken in darkness with a long exposure while using a torch to add the ‘spotlight’ effect (sure there is some fancy name for this technique) but found it an interesting way to add light. Taken using my Canon 300D – 90mm lens

April 26th of 2009 was an unusually beautiful spring Sunday. The tulips were at their absolute “peak” in central Pennsylvania! I set out in the morning, while everyone else was still sleeping, to capture my self imposed quota of tulip photos for the year. This 1:1 macro photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/60th sec at f/22. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist.
