This journal is a collection of photographs I’ve taken along Peachtree Dunwoody Road (PTD) in Atlanta, Georgia. I live on a mostly residencial section of PTD between Abernathy at the south and Spalding DR at the north, and the photographs included here were taken exclusively along this strip. I took most of the shots right from the sidewalk, but I did go down the bank of the pond to take the pictures of geese and ducks. (The pond is next to an office complex oposite, and 3 blocks north, of the North Springs Marta station). / As an amature photographer with a full time job, unrelated to photography or graphic arts … alas!, I take advantage of afternoon walks to practice my art. Once in a while when I’m crouched down at the edge of the sidewalk trying get a close-up of a an insect or some other special shot, people will stop and ask me what I’m doing. Normally, however, I’m never given a second glance. Afternoon sun highlights this Dogwood Bloom This image was hard to capture because the wind current from passing cars kept causing the branches to sway back and fourth. I stood up on a wall beside a driveway to capture the light coming through the petals, so I was also on pretty precarious footing. After about 10 minutes of me swaying one way to keep my balance and the branches bouncing in contrast I finally decided to set the shutter release to rapid fire to take enough shots in sequence to get a sharp image. / / / A small hidden pond on the side of the road is haven this spring to a pair of geese and a threesome of ducts; the pair that have obviously hitched up are being badgered by another male duck that wants in. This makes for some interesting and colorful shows of flaying wings and splashing. / See more artwork on my Bubblesite

This is actually my third feature! But it is always nice to have your work recognized in any fashion. :-)) It is currently featured in the Flowers in Macro Group / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/flowers-in-macro This flower shot was originally an orange lily in color but I decided to flip it to b&w and ended up with a better result. Sometimes things just look better when you aren’t distracted by color and you can really appreciate their detail. It can really bring to life a photo and have you look at it in an entirely different light!
