  • Into The Abyss
    by Jeremy Harrington

    US$3.71–US$98.80

This shot was taken on an overcast and rainy day at Flynn’s Beach in Port Macquarie.. I had to take a shot as the colour of the water was a very nice blue-green.. I was also happy with the way I captured the wave crashing on the rocks offshore.

  • Blackalls Park Sunrise
    by Mark Snelson

    US$3.99–US$106.40

After 13 days of non stop rain, it was great to see the sun come up this morning. This jetty is about 30 metres from my back fence, so it didn’t require too much effort – just rolled out of bed and stumbled down in my pyjamas : ) / / Blackalls Park / Lake Macquarie NSW Australia

  • Sunset Moorings #1
    by Dennis Gay IPA

    US$17.10–US$456.00

This beautiful river scene sunset was photographed from the south bank of the Hastings River at the Boundary Street Ferry Wharf in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, on a mid-winter’s day. Milady Fuji was sitting high and proud on her tripod, with the White Balance set to Sunny due to the glare from the sky and nearest boat, the ISO to 100 for the good Image Quality and to minimise Noise, and with Spot Metering, Centre Focussing, Continuous Focus and Fast Shooting settings completing the set-up. / I chose the 1/500sec Shutter Speed in Shutter Priority as I had some previous success using this setting on some sunset shots and found it helps control the Exposure very well in these conditions as well as freezing any motion quite well. / (Fortunately it froze the flying Pelican. Can you spot him?) :) / After an earlier test shot under the same conditions and a check of the Histogram, I found I did not need any Exposure Compensation. / After I set the Timer to 2 seconds, I pre-focussed on the brightest area on the nearest boat, framed the shot, locked the tripod, squeezed the trigger and after the “Beep! Beep! Beeeeep! Kachunk!” … here it is! Enjoy! BOATS & SUNSETS Sunset Moorings #1 / Sunset Moorings #2 / Ship’s Bell #1 / Boat Silhouette at Sunset #4 / One Afternoon on the Hastings /

  • Winter Sunset
    by Dennis Gay IPA

    US$17.10–US$456.00

This awesome winter sunset was photographed on Town Beach in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. I had been photographing the rocks at the south end of the beach where the light from the setting sun was painting its way across the seascape when I turned around to go back to my car and saw this. How could I resist? If you look closely at the bottom left corner there is the silhouette of an Oyster Catcher walking around the rocks. Enjoy! Here is another shot made a little earlier during that sunset: “Into the Sunset” /

  • Here is proof that there really, really IS such a thing as photographer’s luck and that it is alive and well in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. I had been keeping my eye on this river scene for quite some time, hoping upon hope to be there in just the right winter afternoon light to see if I could make a decent shot. There was some disappointment in that I could not get the exact angle I wanted as access to that spot is almost impossible unless perhaps I had a row boat. So there I was, crouching, bending, stooping to get a clear view between tree branches as well as get the best angle I could find to show as much of the boat as possible. Perfect light, lovely scene, ready to shoot when the Egret flew in from stage right and alighted on a float! So there is the proof – photographer’s luck! Fuji S9600: f/8 @ 1/420sec, auto focus, hand held, gave me the lovely exposure, the depth anf detail. / Lightroom & Photoshop CS3 rendered the fine result. Enjoy! • Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, here we have a fine specimen of a Caleana major (Flying Duck Orchid), an Australian native terrestrial orchid which grows in sandy alkaline heath-land on the east coast. The flowers are only ¾” (2cm) long, two flowers on a n 8” (20cm) stem and with only a single spear shaped leaf at ground level. When disturbed, the flowers drop their heads, lift their tails and curl up. This is to trap any pollinating insect inside until released perhaps hours later or even overnight. Because of their small size and drab colouring they are difficult to find. This one and a handful of others in the near vicinity were discovered by accident as I was attempting to photograph a different wildflower. Lucky me! This li’l quacker was photographed in the wild, in the Queens Lake National Park, at North Haven, NSW, Australia, on a lovely Spring afternoon, in the company of two friends from my camera club, while on a wildflower hunt. To obtain the angle of shot to isolate the orchid from the background and to be able to get very close to this little flower, I was lying on my left side, resting on my shoulder, with Mr Fuji hand held, viewfinder hard against my glasses and using controlled breathing. The UV Filter was off and the screw-on Macro Lens was on to get as much of the orchid in the frame as possible. To make the shot I chose to go fully manual as previous attempts using aperture priority were giving me big problems with exposure due to the dark flower and the overcast lighting. Pop-up flash is not an option when using the screw-on Macro Lens and I didn’t even think of using my slave flash unit. (If I had, it would have been very hard to use the pop-up flash to set it off so it may not have worked). Camera: Fuji S5500; Macro Mode; Manual Priority; f/2.8; 1/160sec; 6mm; WB Daylight; ISO 100. / Processing: Photoshop CS. Enjoy! • Rock Fishermen #2
    by Dennis Gay IPA

    US$7.98–US$212.80

These two dedicated and undaunted rock fishermen were photographed from Tacking Point, at Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, on a sunny winter afternoon. The swell was perfect for this kind of break and the anglers were in good position to be on intersecting “Rule of Thirds” lines for a good composition. The break was way more than I had hoped for and the winter afternoon light was magic. Camera: Fuji S9600; RAW; Aperture Priority; f/8; 1/320sec; 39mm; WB Daylight; ISO 80; Hand held. / Processing: S7RAW & Photoshop CS. Enjoy! • Kalanchoe Caper
    by Dennis Gay IPA

    US$9.26–US$247.00

There were more than orchids on display and these Kalanchoes were among the other plants adding their colour and texture. My camera club was invited to set up an exhibition of floral photography at the Hastings River Orchid Society’s 2007 Orchid and Visual Crafts Show held at the Wauchope Returned Soldiers League Club. My club president and myself set up, manned and packed up our exhibition of fifty eight mounted prints over the two day exhibition. This was a golden opportunity for any keen photographer so my mate and I took full advantage of the event to hone our skills on the many varieties of orchids and other plants on display. Eventually our photographs will be burned onto a CD and presented to the orchid society as a record for their members and I have been asked to produce a few prints as well. I used the ambient light of our exhibition room which consisted of diffused daylight flooding in across from my left and strong, diffused tungsten lights in the ceiling. I used my White Balance Lens Cap to set the Custom White Balance as this rendered the best natural colours. We were able to take the plants from the exhibition and set them up on a low bench with an off white cotton backdrop. Enjoy! • Monk Crossing
    by littlemissgiggles

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Pretty easy manipulation. Loved the fact these two monks decided to go jaywalking… hehe. Taken on Macquarie Street outside the Sydney Eye Hospital looking down to Martin Place, Sydney CBD. Very nice day all in all.

  • New Day

I applied a filter and then flattened the layers. Then I adjusted the levels to give the image more contrast and stronger colours.

  • Alma Doepel with Clouds
    by Dennis Gay IPA

    US$9.26–US$247.00

This maritime monochrome was photographed in B&W on one of my winter afternoon strolls along the Town Green, beside the Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. The ship is the Alma Doepel, “a three masted topsail schooner, Australian built and operated with more than one hundred years of history behind her and with more history to be written.” She is now permanently moored at the Lady Nelson Wharf and is cared for by the members of The Alma Doepel Supporters Club. She spends most of her time moored wharf side as a tourist attraction but a few time a year she heads off to sea for a short voyage, carrying the members and friends of the club. A great tourist attraction, she must appear in thousands of photographs around the world by now. What I really like about the final result is the incredibly well defined detail in the rigging, the wonderful clouds and the overall affect the monochrome has on the scene, like days of old. This photograph was made with my old workhorse Mr Fuji, a Fuji S5500 4Mp camera which has served me well until my new Fuji S9600 arrived on the scene and was processed in Photoshop CS Enjoy! • Drizzle
    by Naomi Frost

    US$3.99–US$106.40

I took this one a few weeks ago. It was lunchtime and it was just raining slightly but in the distance the rain was falling heavily- that’s why you can’t see the land – it’s not fog – it’s the incoming rain…... but the IR still worked..lol

  • Stamens in the Sun
    by Dennis Gay IPA

    US$6.98–US$186.20

This brilliant Hippaestrum Hybrid was photographed in my front yard with the warm sunlight of a nice Spring afternoon suppling the illumination. The bulbs are growing in a pot and as they began to flower I place the pot out the front on an old palm tree stump. It turned out to be the ideal position as the height allowed the sunlight to hit the stamens at a good angle and it also allowed me to shoot at eye level.
