  • This bee means business in a sea of fresh sunflower pollen. This wonderful summer image will keep garden days in mind all year.

  • Fabulous and unusual pumpkins make a knockout scene in this photograph of an Oklahoma garden. The bottom right shows the “Cinderella” pumpkin variety. /

  • A startling sunflower the color of burgundy wine grows in a sunny garden in Oklahoma. Photograph by Betty Mackey. I used this photo in the cover design of my new publication, “Organic Gardening Down South” by Nellie Neal (published 2008 by B. B. Mackey Books).

  • The rocky Atlantic coastline at Cape St. Mary, Newfoundland.

  • Gorgeously sunlit, this shy lotus blossom rises from the pool.

  • Magnolia leaves in shades of yellow-green to brown. These are the huge leaves of the Big-Leaf Magnolia (Magnolia macrophylla).

  • Orange-tinted layers combine in simple and complex interlacings. Digital abstract modern painting, large enough for small and medium size posters. It’s bright! /

  • Colors and shapes merge and shift in this blue and purple abstract digital image.

  • Incredibly rich colors dance in round globes and naturally curved forms. The closer you look the more you will see. /

  • Abstract landscape based on my photo of a field in Oklahoma. The greens and browns with the strange sky caught my attention.

What great news! The group, Color Me A Rainbow, has featured my abstract digital painting, “Golden Mood.” It feels good because there’s so much great colorful work there! Thanks, moderators!! 4/23/2009.

  • Considered to be one of the most dangerous sporting events in the world today, the man driving this sled has won the Iditarod a record 3 times in a row! He did it this time setting blazing speeds once hitting 22mph with his team of mighty athletes. (the dogs). The lead Dogs are Larry and Maple. Learn more about this incredible team, their owners and as much about dog sledding as you might ever want to know :) at their Kennel website: http://www.comebackkennel.com/ This is one of those sports where Man’s best friend is definitely the star. I will be posting more of other teams, but this guy is the King of the dogsled sport right now, and deserves the accolades he gets. His dogs are his world and are loved as pets as well as athletes. Personally, if I were a sled dog, I’d want to be Lance Mackey’s sled dog :) This photo was taken in March 2008 at the Ceremonial Start of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Anchorage Alaska. This photo is for display purposes only. Any use of this image outside of display only requires a release from Mr. Mackey.

Just for fun I made and posted a video of my colorful abstract digital images on YouTube. Click here to watch and listen. The jazzy music is by my younger son but he didn’t want credit! The images pan, shrink, or grow gently as the video flows along to the music. Each frame has the image name. I used the program ProShow Gold. It is from www.photodex.com and is fairly inexpensive and also offers a free two-week trial. Let me know what you think! Cheers! Betty

Today I made an effort to promote my work. I checked out the “promote” area of Redbubble, on the gray subtitle bar toward the right. There’s a great way to promote your shirts or art. Thanks, Redbubble, for making a widget that lets you put creations on your own website with purchase buttons. I pasted in the code and now my shirts are up on my own site. Of course no one has bought one yet. Maybe tomorrow. Try it yourself with your art if you have a blog or website! If you want to see mine, go to http://www.mackeybooks.com/teeshirts.html. —Betty
