I finally found the tractor I have been looking for. I saw this old antique from the road and thankfully had my camera in tow. I braved the 3 feet of snow and frigid Newfoundland winds but I finally got my shot I’d been waiting to get. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

I always wanted one of these as a kid. Good friends had one and they were impossible to pedal up a hill, but it didn’t stop me wanting one.

I’ve been thinking, does technology really improve people’s lives or does it make things worse? The concept of technology have worked for a short term but now i’m starting to think different. Maybe it is making worse of the human condition. Despite of all its benefits, there is a lot that we pay for, and yet we cannot live without it. Technology and its biproducts are bleeding us and our world dry, but maybe its not too late. As much as I enjoy illustrating, I’ve also been trying to retain my skills in Photoshop. This image was made with original photos from imageafter.com and sxc.hu . They were free so I might as well make the most of them. The images mainly consist of a statue, bike parts, engines, motors, microchips, motherboards, stone cracks and splatters.

Medium: Digital / Size: 9.2” x 5.2” / Description: Completed in 2007 by digitally colouring ink drawings of 2 tripods, each taking 3 hours to pen. Based on the brilliant novel War of the Worlds by H G Wells. I wanted to really design the tripod in a different way to what had been done before. I wanted to show that the machines themselves were originally designed by the martians to use on their own dusty home world, hence the desert inspired hoods. Also, after extensive reading of the books, I devised my own interpretation of the legs and drew up sliding disk mechanisms that would allow the tripod a graceful movement. I designed them with my own back story, in that the Martian’s had surveyed our planet since the dinosaurs and modeled their walkers on the giant lizards to strike fear into our minds. I was a long process, but it wanted to do it justice. In fact, the tripod design I have concocted is still a work in progress and I will devote more time to their workings. You must know the famous story by H P Lovecraft. (If you are a geek like me) Cthulhu brings absolute terror beyond human understanding. So there! Scared now? My versions is lil bit robotic and not really scary… but he has ninja stars and two girl pilots (who are very lazy). Other designs by /
