  • Intense Moment
    by Robert Mullner

    US$4.56–US$121.60

They say, never look a monkey in the eye..! well a bit hard when one is staring at you intensely like this..This snow macaque chick had just jumped out of a natural thermal bath in Japan, probably about -5 degrees outside but the warm rocks dry them off nicely.

  • Long Tailed Macaque II
    by salsbells69

    US$3.99–US$106.40

Taken whilst on canoe in Ao Nang Thailand. About three hours into the tour this group of lively (and hungry) Macaques managed to find us as we were enjoying some refreshments. This particular charming young one sat on my foot. Wild as they are and not nearly afraid of us enough..they tend to be a bit intimidating. I didnt move my foot or much else..just hoped he would continue on his merry way.. / They have big teeth you know :) / He is wet from swimming to the canoe and trying to raid the esky that was nesting comfortably between myself and my canoeing partner at the time. I think he got some pineapple in the end..not my foot..lol.. :D / This isnt the greatest of photos..its more to tell you of the experience you can have with the wildlife~! The interaction..even though intimidating can bring you up close and personal. This is one of those moments :D

  • DELIRIUM I
    by blepharopsis

    US$3.85–US$102.60

It’s a rather abstract composition made of Mexican Red Knee Tarantula and a macaque’s skull. Now, the tarantula needs no introduction, it’s an arachnophiles’ classic. The skull on the other hand is pretty interesting – it comes from Borneo, the Kalimantan province, and it is difficult to tell how old it is. The carvings are not really typical for the Dayak people, and they bear a mark of unique craftsmanship. I guess it would make a rather spectacular large print – up to 55×82 cm at 150 DPI. The image is a composite of two (I have only one spider…), taken with Canon EOS 5D, Canon 100mm/2.8 Macro USM.

  • Makaku, Macaque, Macaca, Macaquo are words which refer to the English word Monkey. In 1960 the term settled in Portuguese as macaco, and by 1680 it appeared in French as macaque. Let us imagine a person by the name of Mr. Makaku. In Japanese, one can address Mr. Makaku in many ways. In Japanese Keigo, if one does not really know Mr. Makaku, one would offend Mr. Makaku by simply calling him Makaku. In Japan, to call a stranger by name without an honorific implies that you believe the stranger to be inferior in status to you, and is highly insulting. One could use the expression Makaku-shi, which is used to express respect for a professional qualification. This is a Sonkeigo expression. Hence the name, Makakushi. Makakushi was made In memory of the famous fighting monkey, Jacko Maccacco, of Westminister Pit 1800.

A pair of Sulawesi Crested Macaques paying undivided attention to their young baby and displaying the most tender and caring side of their nature. It was a great privilege to witness and photograph this intimate family moment as the father reached around from behind the mother to gently assist with the grooming of the baby. • Monkey Bicycle Business
    by Jim Moore

    US$3.56–US$95.00

There are loads of Toque Macaques hanging around the ancient temples in the City of Polonnaruwa. They beg for food and are not scared to come up close. If begging is unsuccessful they’ll even try to snatch at your bag in the hope of finding food. I saw one steal a corn on the cob from a young local child; ending in fits of tears as the little monkey sat chomping on his newly acquired lunch. This little chap was quite comical as he sat on this bike. He had a strange notion to bite and lick the handlebars and shortly before this he was sitting on the handlebars with his arms behind his head in a lounging position. © Jim Moore / Jimmoorephoto.com

  • Sadness
    by Cheri McEachin

    US$3.99–US$106.40

I am a great believer in Zoo’s as my Philidelphia Zoo helps animals and is super clear on what is best for the animals and it shows on their wonderful faces. / However, there is a small Zoo near me in NJ, and I try to avoid going there as they all look so sad. I think this is the first photo that I have made that clearer depicts sadness on his face. He sat infront on me to get some photos then when I put my camera away, he left. I told him thank you, and if I could I would make his home so much bigger than it is. This sad boy that makes my heart sink is a Japanese Macaque. /

  • a bubble friend of mine Madeline M. Allen has put this image up for the pay it forward rb group i am so honoured that maddy would do this for me. she wrote Hi ! My mame is Madeline M. Allen and my nomination to the Pay it Forward group is ” Trapped ” by Christopher Britwistle-Smith. / When I first looked at this wonderful creature I was so drawn by its very sad eyes. I have not had a capture bring a tear to my eye in a long time. But the sadness of this beautiful Macaques Monkey is overwhelming for myself. Then, I read what Chris wrote and that done it …… I’ve added this capture to my favourites and I look at it often. / The capture itself, speeks volumes on its own, and is quite obvious Chris is a very talented photographer . / A capture so very worthy of praise and a nomination !!! BRAVO Chris ! - / the original notes were I have travelled extensively through Thailand on numerous occasions for holidays and business. I love the place people and culture. I will return there again soon. This little fella quietly whispered to me and touched my heart. He is a Pig tailed Macaques monkey. He lives a life of servitude on the end of a rope, he takes coconuts from trees for his master. This is his life. If you see this image on its largest setting, he has a small scratch over his eye, but the eyes say it all. He has such an expressive face i find him mesmerising, i think that is why this image challenges me and has done since I took the photograph in 2005 (Thailand). 6 degrees. Peace and light.
