/ AS WE REFLECT ON YESTERDAY / TIMES SEEMED TO HAVE CHANGED / MORE DIVERISITY, MORE UNITY, LESS HATRED / YET THE BATTLE CONTINUES / AS WE FIGHT AGAINST THE INJUSTICES OF LIFE / THE MORE WE GET CLOSER TO THE MELTING POT / SOMETHINGS ALWAYS SHOW US WE ARE NOT / HALF WAY THERE YET / REFLECT ON SENSELESS KILLINGS / USELESS WARS / DRUGS OUR CHILDREN FACE / DISCRIMINATION BETWEEN EACH RACE / THEN TRY TO MAKE A CHANGE / IMPROVE THE REFLECTIONS OF YESTERDAY

He dreamed of peace / And brotherhood / That violence cease / For our own good / / A better way / He sang out loud / For better days / With peace he vowed / / People unite / Martin did plea / Non-violent fight / So all are free / / No longer brawl / He did decree / Bestow on all / Equality / / This digital painting is a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King,Jr. Dr.King is one of history’s greatest visionaries of peace and brotherhood. I am not happy with how many have distorted Dr. King’s true vision and message, and have used his good name for political or financial gain. I’m sure Dr. King would have a few good words for these people if he were here today. / /
A victory for humankind!
“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, / but a means by which we arrive at that goal.” / Martin Luther King, Jr One of the most inspirational people in all of human history….. Featured in All Around The Styles group November 2008
I took this picture across the street from Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Eugene, Oregon
The night, it is deserted / From the mountains to the sea. / But I, the one who rocks you, / I am not alone! The sky, it is deserted / For the moon falls to the sea. / But I, the one who holds you, / I am not alone ! The world, it is deserted. / All flesh is sad you see. / But I, the one who hugs you, / I am not alone! Poem by Gabriela Mistral who was the first female Latin American poet to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. She received it in 1945. Music – Always And Forever 16th January 2009

Best View Larger! Taken on 03/18/2009 with a Canon 50D camera in the town of Luthers Mills, PA. I used a tripod and cable release. I had the camera set on AEB to get -2/+2 exposure for HDR editing. Details Enhancer was applied. Lastly, it was edited in Photoshop Elements 6.0. Thanks to Lois Bryan I wouldn’t have known that the cover bridges would come to life like they do when editing in HDR. / Featured in Covered Bridges group. /
Another offering in my “i” range. Enjoy. Brother Adam Youtube Video .
Can you see the image of one of the President’s mentioned in the poem? hint – look in the upper right hand corner to find the profile of “a bearded man in the stovepipe hat” (without the hat). I guess our work has his approval. / scroll to the bottom of the description to see where to look. Featured in / Love Is / Country Bumpkin This is a collaboration with VampyreAce. The poem A Tribute to 9/11 is his work – the cloud background is our image. When you leave comments for us, please be sure to stop by his site to let him know your reactions and feelings, too. Thank you. Many Thanks to VampyreAce for allowing us to use his amazing poem. A Tribute to 9/11 Two thousand one, nine eleven / Five thousand plus arrive in heaven. / As they pass through the gate, / Thousands more appear in wait. / A bearded man with stovepipe hat / Steps forward saying, “Lets sit, lets chat.” They settle down in seats of clouds, / A man named Martin shouts out proud, / “I have a dream!” and once he did / The Newcomer said, “Your dream still lives.” Groups of soldiers in blue and gray / Others in khaki, and green then say / “We’re from Bull Run, Yorktown, the Maine” / The Newcomer said, “You died not in vain.” From a man on sticks one could hear / “The only thing we have to fear. / The Newcomer said, “We know the rest, / trust us sir, we’ve passed that test.” “Courage doesn’t hide in caves / You can’t bury freedom, in a grave,” / The Newcomers had heard this voice before / A distinct Yankees twang from Hyannisport shores. A silence fell within the mist / Somehow the Newcomer knew that this / Meant time had come for her to say / What was in the hearts of the five thousand plus that day. “Back on Earth, we wrote reports, / Watched our children play in sports / Worked our gardens, sang our songs / Went to church and clipped coupons / We smiled, we laughed, we cried, we fought / Unlike you, great we’re not” The tall man in the stovepipe hat / Stood and said, “Don’t talk like that! / Look at your country, look and see / You died for freedom, just like me” Then, before them all appeared a scene / Of rubbled streets and twisted beams / Death, destruction, smoke and dust / And people working just ‘cause they must Hauling ash, lifting stones, / Knee deep in hell, but not alone / “Look! Blackman, Whiteman, Brownman, Yellowman / Side by side helping their fellow man!” / So said Martin, as he watched the scene / “Even from nightmares, can be born a dream.” Down below three firemen raised / The colors high into ashen haze / The soldiers above had seen it before / On Iwo Jima back in ‘44 The man on sticks studied everything closely / Then shared his perceptions on what he saw mostly / “I see pain, I see 20 tears, / I see sorrow – but I don’t see fear.” “You left behind husbands and wives / Daughters and sons and so many lives / are suffering now because of this wrong / But look very closely. You’re not really gone. All of those people, even those who’ve never met you / All of their lives, they’ll never forget you / Don’t you see what has happened? / Don’t you see what you’ve done? / You’ve brought them together as one.” With that the man in the stovepipe hat said / “Take my hand,” and from there he led / five thousand plus heroes, Newcomers to heaven / On this day, two thousand one, nine eleven.
