  • Eden
    by Rebecca Cruz

    US$4.66–US$106.40

The Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island, Canada, is one of the world’s premier floral show gardens. Jennie Butchart began to shape this magnificent landscape in 1904. She established, in the style of the grand estates of the period, several distinct gardens to evoke a range of aesthetic experiences. An abandoned limestone quarry was transformed into the dramatic Sunken Garden. More from Butchart Gardens:

    by Tony Middleton

The thunderstorm in this photograph was taken on the top-end wetlands late in the build up season…only weeks before this area was a dustbowl, yet weeks later it becomes a floodplain ! As the storm surged across the lush plains it dumped heavy rain and some shortlived reprieving cool winds. / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking on the preview image below. / / / /

  • Camping a couple of nights at this beautiful spot was almost surreal…surrounded by tropical rainforest and the calcium rich waters from flowing through limestone country made it look even more idyllic – seclusion,isolation..add some fantastic company and a natural heaven is there.. as always – thanks for viewing and yes these are/were the actual colours of the original transperancy. / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my photography from Nth Qld below / /

  • Photographic based digital montage – Feb, 2008. Created over several hrs…2 nights this week (suffering from concussion) from an accidental fall over the wk’end. Photoshop montage combining digital shots of jewels, scanned samples of vintage style wallpaper and added drawn elements. Fifty layers retouched, blended, filtered, colour & tonal curve adjusted. I’m considering using the design as a furniture (upholstering) velvety/suede fabric for a small round bedroom foot stool.

  • *MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD*
    by van049

    US$4.99–US$114.00

MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD Best viewed large. / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!..

  • Crossing paths...
    by LjMaxx

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Taken in Summer 08’... late afternoon while lightly raining out all day long… Balmy though.. A handmade arch’d bridge made of thick wood with a babbleing brook underneath is surrounded by extremely lush greenery and is in my line of vision.. Never seems to matter which angle I come from, it never fails to captivate me.. I have been here before, many times and get excited as I approach closer… A unique space…. It is where a close friend of mine that I don’t get to see enough of… stops off at… He thinks about something here… He wonders if thier paths will cross this day.. Sure wish the moon was out.. So it is here… I guess I feel like I somehow connected in spirit and mind with him for only a moment when I pass thru this space, even though we have never shared this space at the same time… Would you consider that odd? lol..

  • Genevieve's Lake
    by Juilee Pryor

    US$4.99–US$114.00

every couple of months I head out of town and go and stay with a dear friend up in the Hunter Valley…... it’s a stunningly beautiful area and I never tire of photographing the landscape there. My friends live on the crest of a hill that rims a series of very dreamy misty valleys and there are many flooded creeks and little lakes to be found all around this lovely place. My favorite place in this chain of valleys is a tiny little hidden lake with a nautral sandstone grotto at its head and a minute island in the centre of it. The lake is only around 20 odd metres in length and the island is only big enough for two trees but it’s beauty is staggering. It’s like an ancient holy place and to just stand by the shoreline is a form of meditation. I have no idea if it has a proper name or not being so small but from the first time I saw it …. I’ve called it Genevieve’s Lake….. and the swirly misty magic of the landscape takes me away into other dimensions…... no perfidious Albian here….. just a faint lingering sense of the Lady of the Lake…...

  • The Rainforests of the Tarkine, some 177,000 hectares, include the largest unbroken stand of rainforest in Australia. A relic from the ancient continent, Gondwanaland, the Tarkine rainforest is one of the most significant temperate rainforests on earth. It is home to 56 threatened and endangered species, such as the Giant Freshwater Crayfish – the world’s largest freshwater invertebrate and the Tasmanian Wedge Tailed Eagle – the largest Eagle in Australia. These rainforests are recognised as being one of the most significant tracts of temperate rainforest on earth, and are under imminent threat. While logging of pure stands of rainforest is occurring in and around the periphery of the Tarkine, the logging industry is pushing the Tasmanian Government to allow logging through the heart of the Tarkine Rainforests. This would divide the rainforest and seriously fragment the Tarkine’s wilderness qualities. Information sourced from John Merory I recently had the pleasure of working with Maree Jenkins who is soon to be opening her Tarkine Wilderness Lodge in the heart of the Tarkine Rainforest. Maree shared with me her love and intense passion for this very important little corner of the world. By establishing the Lodge as a viable tourism venture Maree hopes to stave off the chainsaws and brutal machinery of the Government which threaten to steal the life breath of the forest, stripping it of its natural beauty. Save our forests. They desperately need our voice for they have no voice of their own.
