This wonderful creature is one of the main focal points in the current North American political playground. Wolves are incorrectly perceived as a threat to man and livestock. Misinformed individuals including some otherwise educated politicians believe wolves should be eliminated. Wolves are not the threat, Man is! We destroy the land wolves inhabit then we wonder why these great animals seek out food in farmers fields, towns and cities. Wolves need to be protected. This hypnotic Grey Wolf painting was created from a recent photograph I took on a trip to the Canadian Rockies. I am a strong advocate for animal rights as much as I am for human rights. We can peacefully co-exist once we learn the ways of the wilderness animals and show respect for them. 50% of proceeds from this design benefits the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre as they strive to educate us about the Way of the Wolf. Henry is a Designer Dog – a Doodle. What is a Doodle? A doodle is a dog that is supposed to be a hybrid, and more superior than the dog breed that was combined with a poodle to produce it. / Doodles are the same mixed breeds or mutts we grew up with. The only difference is that Fido is no longer a mutt, he’s now a labradoodle, a spoodle, a pekepoo, a cavoodle, a giant schnoodle, a maltipoo, a spanador, a goldendoodle, a cockapoo … the list goes on. Where did the myth come from that crossing anything with a poodle and calling it a doodle magically made the dogs hypo-allergenic, non-shedding, wonderful creatures, full of fun and energy? Fact is that what some people pay megabucks for will most likely grow up to shed and have a wavy coat that needs constant brushing or even clipping. But, in opposite to pure breed owners, these people will not know that until their designer breed with a fancy name and a huge price tag, often a LOT more than that of a pure breed dog, grows up. Sure, Henry is very family friendly, active, lively, somewhat smart and has a great sense of humor. He’s a dog and I like him – I like all of them. But for every purchased designer dog another dog dies in a shelter because no one wanted to give it a home, and most dogs in shelters are mixed breeds ….

Homage to Nika Nika, the Black Lab Mix, is one crazy pooch. She’s an escape artist. Apparently she has ran away from home, couldn’t find her way back, decided to go for the real adventure, ended up in a shelter, and was adopted by a loving family. She is faster than greased lightning on speed but she can be easily distracted mid-stride by a flower, or a bug. She’s a very handsome dog with great spirit and a loving attitude, strong, loyal and proud – a good pal who loves it to take a nap on the couch and get her belly rubbed! Laminated Print /

Max, the white miniature poodle, is absolutely gorgeous, a real cutie pie. He is not a show dog, but very well taken care of. The Poodle, though often equated to the beauty with no brains, is exceptionally smart and active. Max proves that every day. He is steady, has calm nerves, enjoys hide and seek, fetch at the beach, and fairly long walks. / Max is not just man’s friend, he is a “person” and he expects to be treated as one, a real character and for that reason a wonderful companion. / He is one of life’s great delights. Joe, an English Cocker Spaniel, has an essence of joy about him. He does everything with gusto and great enthusiasm. I have never known a creature to get so happy about a deflated ball (which he deflated himself, of course) or exited when he re-discovers old rawhide bones another dog had buried in the backyard ages ago. He is a lively, loyal, sensitive and devoted tail wagger who loves everyone. / / The Springer Spaniel enjoys what seems to be the most mundane task to humans …. going for two walks a day rain or shine …. eating the same kibbles everyday …. having a schedule of who’s coming, who’s going …. knowing when it’s walk time. He is a constant source of comfort and companionship, always ready for a day in the field and an evening by the hearth. / / A dog is more than a dog. A dog is a blessing.
