This shot was taken from the Destin Harbor – Destin, FL. The sunset cruises were coming in for the evening. This is one of the sunset cruises that I caught coming back into the harbor. During post processing in Photoshop I added a larger than life moon via the Lunar Cell filter. It seemed like it added a mysterious beckoning element to the photo. Enjoy. / / Click on the buy/preview button to see the many RedBubble print options for this photo.
Sydney Harbour Bridge shot on the night of the full lunar eclipse 2007. I also shot the moon, which unfortunately was not in the position I’d hoped, so…. now it is :) © Sara Lamond 2007. All rights reserved. / / / / / / / / / / / /
Two girls walk down a winding path towards a large fantasy full moon. The original photo was taken at Craters Of The Moon National Monument in Idaho on an overcast day with a white sky. The two sisters were walking down the path with mom and dad directly behind, so I knew I had only one chance to capture the shot. / I quickly set up my tripod. / The blurred effect of the girls was from using slow speed Velvia 50 slide film. In Photoshop the midnight blue sky was placed in using the gradient tool, The moon was imported from another separate image I had taken. The stars were then put in place using the brush tool at different sizes. : http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/1268205
The moon on a good day.
Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, this was at the end of a short but powerful storm. The lightning was much too close, couldn’t stand with the tripod, just ran to it between strikes. Didn’t get too many keepers that night, but was happy with this one. Wish I had a better foreground, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. / / Other lightning shots: / / / /

Silently the Watchers looked on while the Stag of Forestonia, bathed in moonlight, searched the perimeter walls for his lost love….. More Photoshop Magic! Description for the DAC Group This was made using a photo of my black cat Fleur – sitting on a wall in sunlight looking out over the fields. I removed her and the background from the original shot, and then used a the Panopticum ‘Instant Mirror’ (Vertical Right) to produce a duplicate. I then used the Flaming Pear ‘Atherise’ filter (a favourite!) to change the colour of the image (making it night from day). The moon, clouds and some of the trees are photographs made into Photoshop brushes – these I use a great deal in my fantasy work. Then on a separate layer I create a glow/moonlight effect with the dodge tool – painting behind and down onto the stag below – increasing the brilliance using the light/shadows adjustment. More brushes(from the artists credited) are used on separate layers and given various effects with the ‘blend option’ for each (sorry I can’t recall all of them as I ‘play around’ until I’m happy with the result (the fun part!). Thanks to the following Deviant Artists for use of their fabulous brushes! Castle and Cathedral Brushes – Reine De Cueil / Tranquility Brushes – Wyckedbrush / Stag – Supalimstock

We are currently renovating this room which was part of the original farmhouse. I placed a vase of daffodils in the window and with a little Photoshop magic – changed day to night!

Byron Bay Moon © AS IS / Vicki Ferrari The most easterly point of Australia! Byron Bay Moonlight Series Byron Bay Moon ©- / Byron Bay Midnight Ocean Rocks ©- These images were taken at Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia back in 2004. The photographs were shot at night, on a full moon, close to midnight, which is why you can see stars in the sky, a passing ship has its light on, and it also explains the lack of bright reflection on the surface of the ocean. The experimental portraits were taken firing my Sunpak 4500DX flash (handheld), often over and over. Where there are two people (I have deliberately blurred the other person’s face, as a courtesy!) in the image, one of them being me, we had to sit very, very still (difficult for me to do!!) – not smiling (or talking, again hard to do!) as to hold the same smile for an extended period of time can be difficult and if you move your mouth, you get blur. Of course, this explains why those old nostalgic portraits from yesteryear tend to make you think the subjects weren’t that happy! I will also be doing some creative adjustments using Photoshop but will be including that information in the Technical Data. / I am being lazy by writing all of this in one description and pasting it into the relevant image. The other images are linked, for easy viewing. Hope you like this series! Lunar eclipse over Sydney. NSW
The Moon is Earth’s only natural satellite and the fifth largest satellite in the Solar System. The average centre-to-centre distance from the Earth to the Moon is 384,403 kilometres (238,857 mi), about thirty times the diameter of the Earth. The common centre of mass of the system (the barycentre) is located at about 1,700 kilometres (1,100 mi)—a quarter the Earth’s radius—beneath the surface of the Earth. The Moon makes a complete orbit around the Earth every 27.3 days[nb 3] (the orbital period), and the periodic variations in the geometry of the Earth–Moon–Sun system are responsible for the phases of the Moon, which repeat every 29.5 days[nb 4] (the synodic period). / The Moon’s diameter is 3,474 kilometres (2,159 mi),[4] a little more than a quarter of that of the Earth. Thus, the Moon’s surface area is less than a tenth of the Earth (about a quarter of Earth’s land area, approximately as large as Russia, Canada, and the United States combined), and its volume is about 2 percent that of Earth. The pull of gravity at its surface is about 17 percent of that at the Earth’s surface. / The Moon is the only celestial body on which human beings have made a manned landing. While the Soviet Union’s Luna programme was the first to reach the Moon with unmanned spacecraft, the NASA Apollo program achieved the only manned missions to date, beginning with the first manned lunar mission by Apollo 8 in 1968, and six manned lunar landings between 1969 and 1972 – the first being Apollo 11 in 1969. Human exploration of the Moon temporarily ceased with the conclusion of the Apollo program, although a few robotic landers and orbiters have been sent to the Moon since that time. The U.S. has committed to return to the Moon by 2018. Image taken In Virginia with a Canon Digital Rebel XSI….and a 120mm 4.7inch refractor….and a 2x barlow lens…As Is
The mixture between a chilly night, with lots of high atmosphere ice crystals, and a bright moon, cause this rainbow-like ring around the moon. As like a ground or rain rainbow, light is getting reflected at different angles, causing the colours. Here, the same thing happens with the ice crystals, they reflect the already reflected sun light from the moon into our eyes. A Moon Ring, or Moon Halo as also known, will always be the same size, 22 degrees across the sky, and will be 44 x the size of the moon. Canon 50D, 10mm, 77 second exposure.. Available Large, and definately best viewed large!
