Detailed portrait of a golden retriever patiently waiting for his owner. Coloration and expression make the visual work and the capture of his expressive gaze is quite impressive when displayed.
We went to the Forest of Bowland for a drive out yesterday and it was beautiful sunshine!
A close up shot of my cat Betty. I used the macro setting on my Canon A75. I am sure she is not too impressed with me since I awoke her from a nap. / She had curled up onto the brown leather chair in the living room. A spot she likes and was sleeping under the light of a lamp. / I find it difficult to get good photos of her since she is all black. So I keep trying different angles to see how I can capture her face and expression. / Shot taken Winter 2008 / Betty was rescued approximately 7 years ago and underwent horrendous physical abuse. It took her two years to warm up to us, prior to that she spent a long time hiding in the basement and did not want us to pick her up or pet her. Now she willingly lays down for aa weekly brushing. She is / a loving pet but is wary of other people, or animals and runs and hides when confronted by strangers.

“Wherever you go, I will go… (Ruth 1:16)” was featured in the groups Soul Mates and Diversity Art Store The title is taken from a Biblical verse, concerning the deep loyalty of one woman to another: / 8 And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each to her mother’s house. The LORD deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me. 9 The LORD grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband.” / So she kissed them, and they lifted up their voices and wept. 10 And they said to her, “Surely we will return with you to your people.” / 11 But Naomi said, “Turn back, my daughters; why will you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? 12 Turn back, my daughters, go—for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say I have hope, if I should have a husband tonight and should also bear sons, 13 would you wait for them till they were grown? Would you restrain yourselves from having husbands? No, my daughters; for it grieves me very much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD has gone out against me!” / 14 Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. / 15 And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.” / 16 But Ruth said: “ Entreat me not to leave you, / Or to turn back from following after you; / For wherever you go, I will go; / And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; / Your people shall be my people, / And your God, my God. / 17 Where you die, I will die, / And there will I be buried. / The LORD do so to me, and more also, / If anything but death parts you and me.” Ruth 1, New King James Version Part of the verses 16 and 17 is written (in Hebrew) on the right side of the drawing. The drawing depicts my own story, with a similar theme… In my case it was a bit more complicated sort of bond and loyalty. As for the details of my own case… Suomi is the Finnish word for Finland, and I immigrated to Finland 12 years ago from Israel because of my ex… That’s quite a lot said, as personal stories go… It’s NOT A PENCIL DRAWING – it’s a pointillistic INK drawing, like all my other drawings. I am overwhelmed; my soul is so weary. / My heart sinks with the setting sun / I am still, lost here in the stillness, / searching into the fading light. / With time, I know I will regain my balance. Knowing that you are always near, / Waiting for the proper time to come, / Your devotion makes my journey possible.

To take this photo was quite a mission. There was about 400 people from the cruise ship all watching me as i waded out holding my camera high above my head so water wouldn’t splash onto it. I knew they were all waiting for me to drop my camera or trip in the water. I took three quick photos before getting right out of the water. People were disappointed- i got a great photo location: oveau- loyalty Islands- south Pacific I use a canon 400D with an 18-55mm IS lens.
Always happy to be with us, doesn’t care about our look or our grooming, always ready for fun, has a loyal, trusting and affectionate nature. What more could we ask of a close friend, besides maybe good conversation? Sometimes just hanging together in silence is just as great. This is our dog Lucky. My sister got her from the shelter last year when she was sick with kennel cough (the dog, of course!). After nursing her back to health, she couldn’t consider sending her back to the shelter, so she convinced us to adopt her. She has been with us for close to a year now. During the first 7-8 months, she was quite insecure and has suffered from separation anxiety but this problem seems to be resolved now. She has finally settled down making her life into our home, and her home into our lives. Lucky, our female labrador/german shepherd mix, seems to be pleading with me to go and play with her in the snow. She was moving a lot and I haven’t been able to get a clear sharp shot with her completely in the frame. I kept this shot anyway just because I love the look in her eyes. Lucky has been rescued from the shelter in Montreal a year ago by my sister. She was sick with kennel cough and needed a temporary foster family to bring her back to health. One month later, she came to live with us permanently because my sister could not bring herself to send her back to the shelter. We are all very fond of her. Roses and colours / Here’s a brief mention about the significance of rose colours and combinations: •Red: An expression of love; a symbol of courage and respect / •Pink: Admiration; a new love that has yet to bloom, appreciation, motherly love / •White: Innocence, purity, secrecy, marriage, loyalty, reverence and humility / •Yellow: Joy and deep friendship or platonic love. It could also denote jealousy, infidelity, a dying love and farewell. / •Blue: Mystery, the impossible and the unattainable / •Purple: Love at first sight, enchantment and all things magical History and Meaning of White Roses here / Primary Significance: Purity, Innocence, Sympathy, Spirituality With its pristine appearance, the white rose has come to symbolize purity, innocence and secrecy. There are myths and legends from several different cultures relating to the origin of the first rose which is initially white in color and is then miraculously transformed. Oftentimes the pure white rose was depicted as being stained by blood, or made to blush from a kiss. The recurrence of this theme does a great deal to establish the white rose as a symbol for purity. Early traditions also used white roses as a symbol for true love, an association which would later become the hallmark of the red rose. However, white roses continue to endure and retain their symbolism of innocence. White roses are now used to express a number of different sentiments. Also known as the bridal rose, the white rose is a traditional wedding flower. In this sense, they are a representation of unity, virtue, and the pureness of a new bond of love. White roses are also a symbol for young love, which further strengthens the association, and makes them ideal for marriages. Bridal bouquets are often comprised of white roses and other white flowers. White roses are also associated with honor and reverence, which makes them a fitting memorial for a departed loved one. Funeral and sympathy arrangements traditionally incorporate white roses as a part of the tribute. As a symbol of remembrance, the white rose represents heavenliness and is an expression of spiritual love and respect. While most of the long-established meanings of white roses are still quite commonly used today, others have become less prevalent. White rosebuds, for example, are a traditional symbol for girlhood and carry an underlying message of one too young for love. While perhaps no longer falling into the realm of common knowledge, this is still very much a part of the language of roses. White roses can mean many things to many different people. They can symbolize new beginnings, or be a sign of farewell. They can convey feelings of love, friendship, respect and hope. Underlying all of these messages is the impression of innocence and purity with which white roses are now synonymous. An arrangement of white roses is not only beautiful; it can carry a complexity that belies its simpler appearance. Whatever the reason white roses are given, it can be assured that they will be deeply appreciated by their recipient. For more information on roses scroll to the bottom of the page! Courtesy Wikipedia here / A rose is a perennial flower shrub or vine of the genus Rosa, within the family Rosaceae, that contains over 100 species and comes in a variety of colors. The species form a group of erect shrubs, and climbing or trailing plants, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. It is a common error to refer to roses having thorns. Thorns are modified branches or stems, whereas these sharp protrusions on a rose are modified epidermal tissues (prickles). Most are native to Asia, with smaller numbers of species native to Europe, North America, and northwest Africa. Natives, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and fragrance. The leaves are alternate and pinnately compound, with sharply toothed oval-shaped leaflets. The plant’s fleshy edible fruit is called a rose hip. Rose plants range in size from puny, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach 20 meters in height. Species from different parts of the world easily hybridize, which has given rise to the many types of garden roses. The name originates from Latin rosa, borrowed from Oscan from colonial Greek in southern Italy: rhodon (Aeolic form: wrodon), from Aramaic wurrdā, from Assyrian wurtinnu, from Old Iranian *warda (cf. Armenian vard, Avestan warda, Sogdian ward, Also the Hebrew ורד = vered and the Aramaic ורדא: these preceded the Greek above. Parthian wâr). Attar of rose is the steam-extracted essential oil from rose flowers that has been used in perfumes for centuries. Rose water, made from the rose oil, is widely used in Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. The French are known for their rose syrup, most commonly made from an extract of rose petals. In the United States, this French rose syrup is used to make rose scones. Rose hips are occasionally made into jam, jelly, and marmalade, or are brewed for tea, primarily for their high Vitamin C content. They are also pressed and filtered to make rose hip syrup. Rose hips are also used to produce Rose hip seed oil, which is used in skin products and some makeup products.

To the Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Assyrians, it was honoured as a symbol of fertility. 2. In Native American tradition, the fish is a symbol for mystical secrets, for it can swim to the deepest regions of the ocean and explore its hidden knowledge. 3. In British lore, it was believed that eating fish before lovemaking could enable a couple to conceive a child. 4. The early Christians used the fish as the symbol for the Christ Consciousness. It was widely believed that this symbol resulted from the Greek acronym for \”Jesus Christ, Son of God.\” But there is also the fact that the coming of Jesus ushered in the Age of Pisces the Fish, which encapsulates the mysticism, love, and happiness to which all world traditions ascribe to the fish. 5. In Scandinavia, fish was considered an aphrodisiac, and was popularly consumed on Friday, the feast day of Freya, Goddess of Love – and in her honour Friday was a day dedicated to lovemaking. There are, therefore, many possibilities if you dream of a fish – all good, even if the fish was a greatly feared one like the Shark [a powerful Hawaiian Aumakua]. If there is a possibility of a pregnancy, dreaming of a fish could mean that a child is on the way, and the pregnancy and birth will be uneventful and result in a healthy baby. If the dreamer is in love but is not yet sure about the beloved’s feelings, dreaming of a fish strongly indicates that the feelings are indeed reciprocated. Dreaming of catching fish, either with a pole or with a net, indicates success and prosperity ahead. Seeing fish swimming in a clear pool indicates that a number of secrets about yourself and the world around you are going to suddenly become clearer.” Information Source from MSN Free Dream Dicitonary Astrocenter Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
