Night shot in Santiago de Compstela, Spain – One of my favourite night shots. It seems other people seem to agree, judging by the comments, and the critique here: Daily Group Critiquing (Minolta 5D, kit lens 18-70 @30mm, f:5, 1/25 sec (handheld), ISO 800) .

If that glass could talk, what tales it would tell… I took this picture when I was 15… Many moons ago! It’s lit with a single halogen spotlight, and scanned from the original 35mm slide.

Another quick capture tonight, from work to the tube, just as the night was falling around 5:30pm. These are the lights on the South Bank of the river Thames, close to Waterloo bridge. To me, the varying size of the lights on the picture and the slight curve of the layout, like just like a string of pearls. Ever since I heard it for the first time, Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata I always associated it with the sea. Probably because of the soft repeating opening phrases that sound like lapping waves, or the angry 3rd Movement that sounds like a battling storm. I remembered the piece again last week when I took this candid shot of mum and daughter (I presume!) just sitting there, looking at the cloudy moon and listening to the sea, in Worthing (Surrey, UK). (Just in case you are wondering, the orange tone is due to the city lights behind me!) [Sony a350, Sigma 17-70@35mm, f:10, 30sec, ISO-100]
