I wonder…

This little bear was sitting on the old stone wall surrounding Whitby Abbey, in Whitby, England. He had been there for some time… looking as if he’s weathered a few rainstorms. We spotted him as we were getting ready to leave and take the train back to York, and of course, I fell in love immediately! I took him down, brushed him off, and told my husband I wanted to take him with us! And then, very kindly – my hubby wondered outloud what would happen if perhaps the child who had left him behind came back to find him, and couldn’t? How sad that would be. Of course, I couldn’t possibly take him then. He was waiting for someone else to return… not me. :) So I carefully put him back where I had found him, and snapped this picture to take as a memory instead. I do so hope his owner came back for him.

Patricia passed away first, / Then you left this earth, / The only one surviving just passed away. / Your generation’s no more / The’ve all passed through the door, / And locked it – I can not go through this way The time with you recieving, / Your wisdom and believing, / Was cut short before it’s time was due. / Your brother’s now with you in heaven / All gathered in God’s protection / And I’ll see you all, with eyes now anew.

This sweet baby girl, along with her gracious mom and grandparents, hosted us for a fabulous buffet and fried catfish dinner after our opening in New Orleans. It was our best evening there – more than a home cooked meal, we entered friends and left family. Copyright
