Let me tell you a story. / About something that has blown me away. / And I don’t want to embarrass Travis Easton by telling you this. I want to applaud him. Some of you know about the world’s most expensive card campaign. This card is marked up 999% so that when people buy it for $33 or so the $30 mark up goes straight to HEAL Africa Many of you guys have got on board and purchased this card and in its own right it’s raised around $600 +. My thanks as always to JR who came up with the idea in the first place and Adrian Carmody who pushed it hard. Well last night Travis bought the world’s most expensive card…as a framed print. Now in case the maths is as hard for you as it is for me, that means the mark up comes to $799.00 He then went on to buy this black and white as a framed print, the mark up of which comes to $40. The grand total of all the mark up comes to $839.99 and I can promise you every single cent of that will go to HEAL Africa. I will scan in the receipt upon payment. That alone will provide 2 life saving and changing fistula operations. If you want to read about that you can check out my post here In total the photography sales and a few other things have provided 7 fistula operations, a few mosquito nets and a cataract operation. The point of this journal entry is to say thanks to Travis. This is not about me, it never has been. It’s about the generosity of people. People I haven’t even met but have come to know and respect in virtual friendships. People who don’t mind peeling off the layers to their soul and allow their spirit to breathe and add breath to the displaced, the beaten and the frightened. All I had to do was take the shots, it’s people like Trav and so many others who take the step… Please I encourage you to send this to as many people as you can. Comment, say g’day to Travis Quite apart from anything else the guy is an AWESOME landscape photographer. There’s a saying someone once told me (Travis it was Phil Cogger maybe you know him?)... “It’s all very well to be moved. It’s much more important to move.” I love it. Today however I got a BM from Erhan. About something in a few hours.. but I was gone and that mail came 17 hours ago! This series means alot to me on many levels.. It REMINDS ME.. what I am good at with the camera.. I really love photojournalism… events and me and capturing the essence of that day, moment, time and place are what I love to shoot. My best work has not been so much for weddings nor for personal hire nor flowers or buildings or minimal shots of which I so admire all these venues. My best work is when I am so excited about what I am seeing that it translates into the medium of photo taking. I can’t help it I love people..and most of them never know I am taking their picture.. when they are aware, sometimes electricity is exchanged in good keeping as I try to portray these moments with the best possible art in my heART. I feel a great honor to have been so recognized by the group C.O.R.E. as they caught onto my mission and indeed highlighted their features this last few day with my work and the work of many others pertaining to this momentous occasion. GOOD GOD.. / I allowed myself to see a documentery called “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High (2007)” and what a doozy.. It never ceases to amaze me how the stupidity of our far right thinking gets us. We spent more money on arresting and finding growers of marijuana and building jail after jail to house the arrest of these growers and distributors than we do on all the heroin, crack cocaine, meth labs ect all the hard drugs participants combine!! Did you know before 1930’s Hemp was forseen back then as a billion dollar industry!! BACK THEN.. billions of dollars is like now trillions..Holy Cow.. will we ever get out from under our own stupidity and become ENLIGHTENED!! Just for a minuet I find peace in my week and in the mood for allowing for all that is in the contrast of life… and the next I watch something that is sooooooooooo crazy and thought-provoking like the money being made in the building of private prisons.. oh my yikes…. then… WELL THANK GOD FOR Unconventional Artistry GROUP AND THE AMAZING HOSTS… / CHEYWINGS AND EARTHMONSTER / SENDING OUT WORD that I had been given the complete honor of being their featured artist this go round and an invitation to view my lastest work LIMBER TRULY .. As much as we all hope to get people viewing our work and getting feedback on what we put our blood, sweat and tears into, it dosn’t always happen. I have a great concept that would share the love around. If everytime someone logs onto Red Bubble and visits a minimum of three people and leaves some constructive and insightful comment, it would leave everyone feeling good about their work and having some frame of reference to improve or enhance the way we market ourselves. So if you guys want to start a sought of pay it forward concept I think it would be great. / So the concept is. - if you get a comment on your work, go and view 3 other artists work and leave a comment with each of them. - if you have the time so we get the ball rolling, start leaving three messages everytime you log onto Red Bubble with or without recieving any messages/comments. - When you leave a comment you could suggest to have that person also view one of your images also in that comment. I’d love to know what you guys think of this idea so please leave some feedback for me to go on? / Anyway I shall go and start the avalanche with a pebble or the ripple in the pond. / Thanks all you bubblers out there for taking the time to read this. / Good luck to all and keep spreading the love. / All for one and one for all !!!
