I’m personally not a fan of Valentines Day as I don’t feel I need one day in the year to show love, but what I do love and appreciate is the simple things. I don’t like extravagant presents or gestures, I much prefer a simple daisy picked from a field and a hand written love note.. I think these simple gestures are slowly being lost in the commercialism. Anyway, This is my interpretation of simple love…..

I seriously doubt that anybody is going to buy a grainy card, poster or print of ugly old me but I nevertheless wanted to share this work with you. ;) / It’s one of those works that in real life gets tons of reactions when people see it hanging on our wall. I’m curious to see whether it will provoke any reactions here on this wonderful art community. In truth, this is only half the artwork. The other half has agreed to being upload to redbubble too, so, here she is: Showcased in Pay it Forward after a nomination by picketty because: / °°° / I have to nominate this fine work as my all time favourite because it has imprinted itself on my memory. I love the subtle colour treatment and the way the image halts me in my tracks. There are so many beautiful images, I have pages of favourite,... . but for me this is the most memorable. / °°° / Many thanks for this gigantic compliment!

Why not add a matching card? / / / / The heart in this image was created using the shape tool in Photoshop with a red fill the shape was then rasterized. Various texturing filters were used as well as the some use of the burn and dodge tools. The arm was from a separate photo and had similar processing. Two textures from the FAC group (textures from cgtextures.com), combined with an original photo of a hammered metal heart against a hand-dyed yellow cloth. I duplicated the water texture twice and adjusted opacity and blending modes on all four texture layers (3 water, 1 plaster). I also duplicated and resized the heart, used selective coloring, dodged and burned. Finally, I added filters from Flaming Pear (aetherize and melancholytron) and Topaz.

Today I celebrate the beauty of two lovely breasts / breasts that rise and fall with each breath I take. Beneath them lie my heart and very soul / which they surround and keep safe. I nestle them in delicate lace and smooth satin / and anoint them with soothing oils. No longer do I wish them larger or smaller / or anything other than how they are right now. They are the beauty of my womanhood / myself as nurturer and lover and friend. My breasts are not who I am but a sacred part of me / and today I celebrate their beauty.
