  • Gracie
    by Elaine van Dyk

Marlene Dietrich’s voice oozed seductively from the speakers. Gracie held the soft cloth of her dressing gown around her neck and closed…

  • This is part of my Village Common series. I took this in May 2008 and used an aging filter. I love the way it turned out as it looks like old paper… Enjoy! Joanne :)

  • A beautiful angel I photographed at Rookwood Cemetary. I have given the background some treatment in photoshop because it was a fairly congested shot and I felt that the natural view with old and cracked graves and headstones was not appropriate for a sympathy card, thanks for visiting

  • I was thrilled to see that this freesia which was growing wild at the cemetary photographed with a mostly dark background. The light was fading and caused a dramatic effect. I have slightly edited the background in photoshop so that it looked reasonably uniform and of course added the lighting effect. The freesia itself is untouched in any way, thanks for visiting. / I think I am over my need to do sympathy cards now

  • “Pleasure is the flower that passes; remembrance, the lasting perfume.” / – Jean de Boufflers A sunflower shot on our front acreage a few weeks ago, didn’t even know they came in this color…another favorite quote ;) / /

  • Meaningful Interactions
    by Jo O'Brien

Over Christmas and New Year I took a couple of weeks off work. But I also had a couple of weeks away from the computer, from the internet, from answering my phone. Of course what happened was I started to think. About photography, the nature of creating things and releasing them to the world, but mostly about the meaningful interactions I’ve had online. One of the things that first drew me to RedBubble was the positive response to my photography. Heck, it feels good when people like your stuff and say so. But it went deeper than that. I’d admire someone’s favourites list and start to pay attention to them. Then I’d notice we were commenting on a lot of the same stuff. Not knowing anything more about that person, I’d feel closer to them, connected. Like I’d made a friend. Online we reveal some of our most personal feelings and thoughts. Whether directly through our words, or indirectly through our actions. The internet is house to a true society of people, with a full spectrum of personalities and desires. Perhaps it is the (thin) layer of online anonymity which allows us to expose ourselves and embrace vulnerability. There is something very cathartic about saying to the world ‘this is me and I am not afraid’ (even if you’re shitting yourself inside). Over time relationships develop and mature. Many of my closest friendships were established here on RedBubble, and much of our communication happens in bubblemail, on facebook, and in emails. I met my partner who I now live with on RedBubble too. These relationships are just as important and real to me as any other. They give me everything other relationships do – joy, entertainment, heartbreak, sorrow, confusing, tension and love.

  • :) my hubby took this one and I played with effects.. he hopes you love it :) cause he does..

  • For a friend who lost their cat, Sofia, three years ago. She was thirteen…. Digital Painting speedpaint

  • My mother and Grandmother…. both show the unconditional love that comes from years of experience of raising sons and daughters. Of enjoying grandchildren and now great grandchildren and great great grandchildren have come. More to love , more to worry and pray for. A Mother’s love continues on no matter how much time has gone by. My grandmother has passed on a few years back but I know she watches over all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and her great greats as she used to call them. These two women show an unconditional love that shines from their faces with eyes full of love !

  • Now… I’m not American… I am a proud Canadian.. BUT.. this was sitting next to the grave of a 4 year old boy who had passed away in 1865. I wish i knew his story.. and I wish i knew why someone planted an american flag beside his grave…because then I could tell more about this photo. I guess you’ll just have to use your imagination. In Loving Memory Of The Boy Who’s Life Ended Too Soon.

  • My Soul, is Freedom’s Journey
    by Kristin Reynolds

Blowing through a vast crevasse – / from whirling tempest; / to calming balm on wounded skin; / to constant howl; / to sunlit kiss, onto war…

Ah. How to describe this? This is, quite simply, my past – or, the majority of it’s heaviness. So much. So many details. In short: my beautiful mother died at the age of 26, at the hands of a monster (AKA: the black-maker); tortured us beforehand for 2+ years on a daily basis (he was a dirty, dirty cop) which included molesting me for many years, years of which I have but 2 memories left after my brain erased my hard-drive to keep me from killing myself, most likely…the body knows what’s best. although, it would be nice, to have even one memory of my mother. she died when I was 7. She took her own life to escape him. / I have always pictured that little girl (me at 7, post her death) as sitting atop this pillar in a cave, bound and gagged, waiting for the adult me to come and rescue her…maybe someday I’ll be able to remember, and realease that girl of mine) / but for now, I take all of this as : A GIFT. and I mean that. ,my past is my gift, my present the reward. I harbor no ill-will against anyone. I forgave the man about 5 years back, in a dream actually, and my mother as well. / As I say, “I am the light-maker now”. So be it. I accept. With love and forgiveness in my heart, how could I do anything but shine for them?

  • I wonder if they still together / I wonder if that strong love that united them once / still has his charm on them / still bonding them to this day / or / was it just a brief romance / with some memories left behind bamboo tree Featured in Moody, Dark, Evocative (no nudes) Group October 13, 2009 Canon Rebel XTI / /
