September 2008 ...That Fish Is Back Again!!!!! :D / Everyone’s artwork looks fantastic and thank you so much for the honor!!! ....and the fish thanks you too… ;) Mixed Media, 20” x 20” A Fish Out Of Water There’s more ocean in fish than fish in the ocean… Nature is wise, but Mankind… just bumbling fools. Learn from the living, watch water in motion, Don’t waste your time staring at small stagnant pools. Fish are content to live their life in water, Water is after all their life’s element. There’s no need for them to be an “achiever,” Living, staying alive… that’s accomplishment. But there was one fish wanting something “better”, He wanted “achievement,” he wanted a “first.” He leapt out of water, fins in quick flutter, Taking fast to the sky… but soon died of thirst… / Poem by Peter. I love you. Because you are not afraid To speak, / To feel, / To suffer, / To look foolish. I love you because you are not afraid to love me. More refined men are. / More learned men are. / More admired men are. They are dwarfed by your manly shadow, / Afraid to come into the light; / Afraid to love. But today the sun shines full upon your goodness, You are the better man. / ______ This is just for a friend and a dear love of mine. Someone who is not only there when I need him but pre-empts my needs and makes me laugh and laugh and laugh before I remember that I was crying. I’m having a tough time, nothing I really wish to go into at the moment. Let’s just say I’m in one of those major periods of change, my life is turning itself inside out and twisting round and about…but I am holding on..thanks to my dear friends and loves. I’ll be back in awhile….

My dear Animal Loving Red Bubblers – my good friend Elisabeth – ferndesign – posted this in her journal today – it is extremely distressing to read. May I ask that you take a couple of moments to click on the link at the bottom and sign your name to the petition to stop this appalling thing happening. Please spread the word about this to your friends both on and off RB – the more people that put their name to this – the more chance it will be stopped! Thank you for taking the time to care for those that cannot speak for themselves! / Angela x Taken from ferndesign’s journal An Artist that shouldn’t be recognized in the Art world!!! In 2007, the ‘artist’ Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death. For several days, the ‘artist’ and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful ‘masterpiece’ based on the dog’s agony, until eventually he died. Does it look like art to you? But this is not all… the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American decided that the ‘installation’ was actually art, so that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008. PLEASE HELP STOP HIM. It takes a second to help put a stop to animal abuse – Sign the petetion to stop this by Clicking Here Another animal advocate and dear friend Sally Omar has added a further link that we can contact – please visit her journal page Click Here / if you wish to email PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to help get this terrible thing stopped – Thank you! xxx Additional Comment Added 14/04/08 – If anyone can suggest any other organisation that could be contacted to help stop this – please leave a comment to let us know – I will post it on as a further journal message. Thank you! xxx

I got attacked by a dog a few days ago. It came out of nowhere this thing snarling and growling. Not sure what it was …. Some psychopathic pit-bull Chihuahua…… / Readers Digest Book of Handy Hints says “ Once the attack has commenced use anything on your person as a weapon” ….I only had a Bic biro … what was I supposed to do …. Write on it?! (Please f**k off) / The owner came sloping along … I knew it was the owner he had ‘Bollocks’ tattooed across his forehead. I shout out “ Hey mate!.. MATE!! ..can you call your dog off?” He snorted back.. “Don’t be a pussy mate………he even likes kids”…I thought I bet he does …………..with gravy. / “You must have done something to get it going’ / Like what? Sniffing it’s arse ………….or humping it’s leg!! I was lucky to get away from both of them. / I got home to find the bank have stopped calling me “ Dear valued customer” …. is that an omen? / See……….. they give you an umbrella when the sun’s out and when it starts raining they take it back again. ……they’ll lend you money alright, as long as you can provide evidence that you don’t need it. …………. I always need it!! Well it does come in handy …especially with the recent news….. My daughter has a new man in her life ….. It seems things are getting very serious now and she’s talking about changing her name to his……………… that’s ok but………. I’m never going to get used to calling her Rodney. I wish them a long and happy marriage , the same as I wished myself. …..Mind you that dream was shattered a short time back when after thirty years of marriage my wife and I decided to call it a day. / Let me tell you wether a relationship is good or bad, after thirty years of being together when that person is no longer there it leaves a big gap to fill….. I wandered around in a bit of a daze at first…….started doing things I don’t normally do………..like the dishes, making the bed…. / She said I never told her I loved her enough.…….,she said even Adam said to Eve ‘I love you’………… course he did… who else was there?! He’s hardly seeing someone on the side is he? He’s not exactly out with the lads every night is he? Coming home pissed looking for ‘rumpy pumpy’ No! / And Eve wouldn’t have had to pressure him much if he did turn up late….. “WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEEN???!” “…………………………………...over there.” She called me a typical man ……………. A typical man. what’s that supposed to mean? By that reckoning Jesus was a typical man ……He said he’d be back again and nobody’s seen him since. I wish my bank manager would take a leaf from him

  • 30 Questions
    by Daniel Rarela

“I cannot expect even my own art to provide all of the answers, only to hope it keeps asking the right questions.” ~ Grace Hartigan / ...

“I cannot expect even my own art to provide all of the answers, only to hope it keeps asking the right questions.” ~ Grace Hartigan I have a few questions for those (specifically my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ) who voted Yes on Proposition 8 here in California. The rules are simple enough – the more questions you can provide a good, sensible answer to, the more respect you earn. I’m not necessarily doing this to be incendiary…. However, I can’t help but think that the reason why the issue of homosexuality and gay marriage has gone on for this long is, not because there are right answers that people are ignoring, but because the right questions are not being asked… and that when they are, the people who are confronted with those questions are either too cowardly or too arrogant to answer them head on. In any case, let the quiz begin: _____________ / _____________ 1. On a scale of 1 to 10, where would you rate yourself in terms of your knowledge about homosexuality, particularly about how it relates to our culture and homosexual individuals today? (1 being “no knowledge” and 10 being “extremely knowledgeable” on the subject) 2. Where does your knowledge come from, and can you back up your information with credible, solid, factual evidence (studies/ statistics/ etc)? If so, please provide your facts and supporting evidence here, and ANSWER WITH CAUTION: what you say here may very well reveal whether or not you’re prejudiced, naïve, and/ or prone to believing stereotypes as fact. 3. If your knowledge of homosexuality comes solely from what you’ve read in the Bible, then please read carefully: There are 66 books (861 pages, NIV) that make up the Bible. In the 861 pages that make up those 66 books, how many times does the subject of homosexuality even get mentioned explicitly? And in each instance, how in depth does it get discussed? 4. Follow up question to #3: If an atheist knows less than 10 (out of the countless number of) things Jesus said in the Bible, how qualified would he then be to engage in a theological debate with, say, C.S Lewis, who, to say the least, understood the Bible and Christ much more thoroughly? ____________ / ____________ (NOTE #1: If you are still wondering how and why questions 3 and 4 are related, you may stop reading now, forget you opened this journal, and do something more worth your while. If God truly intends to expand your knowledge on the issue of homosexuality and how to deal with it, chances are He either will do it later in your life, and/ or do it through something or someone other than me.) ____________ / ____________ 5. Time and time again, it has been said that knowing God is not about following rules, but the extent and depth of one’s relationship with Jesus Christ. Through our relationship with Christ, we can know and see God (John 14:6). Let me begin to draw a parallel, here: How many close relationships/ friendships do you have with people who are homosexual? 6. Follow up to question #5: If you have absolutely no close relationships with anyone who is gay, spent time with them, talked to them, made a serious effort to understand them, put yourself in their shoes, and LOVE them as Christ loves you, then how qualified are you to speak on the subject of homosexuality if you’ve only viewed it from your side of the fence, and dealt with it only from a distance? 7. Follow up to question #6: Can a man truly say anything wise about God, without first having a close relationship with Jesus Christ? ____________ / ____________ (NOTE #2: If you do not understand why questions 5, 6, and 7 are related, please refer back to NOTE #1) ____________ / ____________ 8. (SPECIAL grouped question) If Leviticus 18:22 counts as a solid argument against homosexuality to you, especially when looked at alongside John 14:15, then please read Leviticus 19: 19, 26-28, 32… and also Leviticus 11: 10-11. Now, let me ask you: Do you wear clothing of mixed fabrics? Have you ever eaten a steak / hamburger that was prepared rare as opposed to well-done? As a man, have you ever shaved? Have you ever gotten a tattoo? Have you ever jumped to your feet in the presence of an elderly person, or if you were sitting, did you remain seated? Have you ever eaten shellfish? 9. Follow up to Question #8: If you answered Yes to any of the grouped questions relating to Chapters 11 and 19 of Leviticus, then please explain in depth as to how you can use Leviticus 18:22 as a case against homosexuality without sounding like a hypocrite, especially if used alongside John 14:15. 10. If you believe that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah’s destruction counts as a case against homosexuality (rather than inhospitality), then please explain why cities with a significant “gay” demographic such as San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, and Amsterdam are still standing. 11. Follow up to question #10: If you believe that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah’s destruction has anything to do with homosexuality as it is understood today, then please provide the number of instances since Sodom and Gomorrah in which foreigners spent the night in a city, and all the men of that city came to the house they were staying in and demanded to have sex with them. 12. Read Genesis 19: 4-5. If all the men that were eager to rape Lot’s guests could indeed be labeled homosexual, does this then mean that all incarcerated men who commit prison rape are homosexual as well? Why or why not? 13. For those of you who are familiar with the story behind former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevy’s extramarital affair with another man (you can get a quick briefing on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_McGreevey) , let me ask you: while McGreevy was indeed committing adultery with a man, the fact remains that, beforehand, he had been married to a woman for 8 years and even had children with her. Does this then mean that he is a straight man nonetheless? Why or why not? (depending on how you answered Questions 12 and 13, I might ask you to refer back to Question 1 and re-evaluate yourself) There are also, of course, a few instances in the New Testament in which homosexuality is mentioned… although the only instance where it’s discussed in more than just one or two words is Romans 1:26-27. For now, however, let’s examine a verse in which Paul (the only author of the New Testament to say anything at all about homosexuality) merely mentions it in passing. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NLT) Don’t you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers – none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God. There was a time when some of you were just like that, but now your sins have been washed away, and you have been set apart for God. You have been made right with God because of what the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you. Now, homosexuals are only one out of the 10 groups of people Paul lists in verses 9 and 10. Adulterers are another one, which brings us to question number 14 on this quiz: 14. (SPECIAL grouped question) How did Jesus define adultery in Matthew 5:27-28? Once you know Christ’s definition of adultery, ask yourself if you have ever been guilty of adultery, and if you have ever been guilty of it even after accepting Christ into your heart? 15. Follow up question to #14: If you answered No on question #14, please refer to Exodus 20:16 and Matthew 12:36, and explain what exactly those two verses mean to you, if anything. 16. Follow up question to #15: If you answered yes on question #14, but you use 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 to argue against homosexuality, and that homosexuals are indeed going straight to Hell, no questions asked… then please explain why you believe that Jesus is not referring specifically to you in Matthew 7: 3-4. Now, for Romans 1:26-27. This, along with Leviticus 18:22, is probably the most famous verse used to condemn homosexuals. This is also the same pair of verses that should have gotten Christians (particularly those who are married) asking some serious questions once the issue of gay marriage became inescapable. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but I’ll ask it here. Before that, however, let’s see what the verse actually says. Romans 1:26-27 (NIV) / Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Let us assume, first and foremost, that you have chosen not to believe that this verse was taken out of the context of loveless, emotionally cold homosexual sex that was one of the many acts resulting from idol worship (see Romans 1:25), and that you are instead choosing to take these verses at face value. Now, let’s take a second look at the relations discussed in those verses: “God gave them over to shameful LUSTS/ the men… were inflamed with LUST for one another” Which now brings now to… 17. Since lust is the only emotion described in Romans 1:26-27, does this then mean that lust is the only emotion that homosexuals feel towards one another? 18. Follow up question to #17: If it is indeed true that a hunger for sex is all homosexuals feel towards each other, then please explain why they would have any desire at all to get married. 19. Follow up to question #18 (those of you who are married, PAY ATTENTION): Is marriage an act of lust? Please explain why or why not. 20. (specifically intended for Christians that are currently in loving, satisfying marriages) Please list the reasons why you married your husband/ wife. 21. Follow up to question #20: Did it ever occur to you that gay couples have a desire to marry for the exact same reasons you listed? 22. Follow up to question #21: If indeed gay couples desire to marry for the same reasons you did, yet their desire is sinful while yours is not, then please give an in depth explanation as to how you are not guilty of what is being described in Proverbs 20:10. 23. Assuming that you refuse to believe the basis of question #20, and that the only single reason gay couples desire to marry is because of sexual desire, then can you provide solid, credible, factual proof of that? If so, please review Questions #1-2, and more importantly #5-7, THEN provide your proof here. And while you’re at it, be sure to also explain what is so sexual/ lustful/ frivolous about this The purpose of Proposition 8 here in California was to ban gay marriage and make it illegal. It’s main slogan? Protect Marriage, or the sanctity of marriage, to be more specific. Which brings us to… 24. Is the union of a man and a woman the ONLY thing that is required to make a marriage sacred? 25. If you answered Yes to question 24, does this then mean that arranged marriages, marriages done out of convenience, marriages done for the sake of money, and marriages that occur between two drunkards in the Elvis chapel at Las Vegas are ALSO sacred, just so long as it is between a man and a woman? And if not, why are there no constitutional amendments trying to put a stop to those kinds of marriages as well? While discussing the sanctity of marriage, it should be noted that marriage has been very commercialized and publicized in our culture today. Here’s a short list of the number of reality TV shows that have been based on marriage. The titles are more or less self explanatory, but you can always look them up if you want more details on them: Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire? Who Wants To Marry My Dad? Joe Millionaire Married by America The Bachelor/ The Bachelorette Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave 26. Do any of these reality shows desanctify marriage in any way, shape, or form? And if so, why do many Christians spend more time in front of the TV watching these shows instead of protesting at the studios/ locations in which these shows are filmed? 27. Please explain how one could be against gay marriage to protect the sanctity of marriage, and be entertained by marriage reality TV shows (in which many of the televised couples either fail to marry at all, or end up divorcing sometime after) without sounding like a hypocrite. 28. Seeing as to how divorce is the one obvious thing that completely destroys a marriage in the most obvious way, why is there no Constitutional amendment banning that? Is it because gay marriage is a larger threat to the sanctity of marriage than divorce? ____________ / ____________ NOTE #3 In relation to question #28, please keep in mind that the national divorce rate in America stands at about 50% for a couple’s first marriage. The divorce rate for 2nd and 3rd marriages are even higher. Now, the percentage of people who identify themselves as homosexual is widely believed to be around 10%, although some argue that that percentage is even lower. Either way, it then means that the percentage of homosexuals who desire to marry must consist of either that entire 10% or lower. ____________ / ____________ And finally…. 29. Refer back to the questions 17-23, which discussed Romans 1:26-27 in relation to gay marriage. If, by some miracle of God, you have finally come to understand that the issue of homosexuality is something that goes much deeper than being a mere issue of the flesh (refer back to Question #1 and start this quiz again if you still believe otherwise), then how would you deal with the issue of homosexuality and gay marriage when you realize that it is an issue of the HEART? 30. Please explain, in as much detail as you can, how and why this is disgusting in the eyes of God, and not merely in your own opinion. ____________ / ______________ If the point I’ve been trying to make with this quiz still hasn’t sunk in, I’d like to offer you one last opportunity to be a good Christian: Leviticus 20:13 – The penalty for homosexual acts is death to both parties. They have committed a detestable act and are guilty of a capital offense. Well, there you go! While I have been celibate since accepting Jesus into my heart, the fact remains that I’m gay and have “committed homosexual acts” in the past. Feel free to buy a rifle at your nearest gun shop! And once you have, guess what? The next time you come across a rally in which gay people fighting for the right to love each other without fear, you can take your rifle, start a little massacre, and tell everyone you did it because you love Jesus!! After you’re done with that, feel free to contact me via RedBubble. I’d be happy to give you the address to my house so you can pay me a little visit as well. You can aim the gun at the door right after you ring my doorbell. After I open the door to greet you, you can pull the trigger… and as you watch my brains splatter on the opposite wall, you can hold your head up high, and expect that when you finally see God face to face, He will say “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” It’s not like you can refuse the offer, right? After all, a Christian who merely picks and chooses what he likes from the Bible isn’t worthy of being called a Christian, yes? The only kind of Christ follower who deserves that title is one who follows every single command in the Bible literally, correct? So I suppose if you stand by Leviticus 18:22, you might as well follow up and carry out Leviticus 20:13. Sounds like tons of fun, doesn’t it? HOWEVER, Just remember that when you do it, you’ll need to be unshaven, tattoo free, wearing 100% cotton with no mixed fabrics, and you’ll need to have never eaten shellfish or rare meats during any time in your life (see chapters 11 and 19 of Leviticus). After all, it’s just like Jesus said – only the one who’s never sinned is really qualified to throw a stone. I suppose the modern day equivalent would be along the lines of “let he who is perfect be the first one to pull the trigger”

I hope we are forgiven, one day! This is a bit of conversation betwixt me and my eldest daughter. For the record, my hormones were well in check when she said this to me, so I was being a smart-alec about it. Her: Oh, God. Mom! Control your hormones. Me: No! I spent far too much of my life controlling my hormones, including pretty much the entire time I was married, and the majority of my teenage years (no matter what anyone ever says to the contrary), and etc. So, no, I just shall not. I demand my hormones be immediately married off to a crippled weirdo and be allowed to roam freely over his clown tattoos. Thank you! Her: If I didn’t know that you already knew this crippled weirdo with clown tattoos, that would be oddly specific. Now, on to the feature: Electric Pastel Rush was just featured in Outsiders! about 2 hours ago. Lovely!

The needs are forgotten. / Small business run by small people. Large business control small business. Corporations run large business. Corporations are driven by desire. Desire is satisfied by greed. Business is driven by greed. / Greed destroys harmony. Greed destroys families. Greed destroys towns. Greed destroys countries. Greed destroys love. / Love is basic. Love is given. Love is taken. I’ll not commit acts against my will. I will not change my opinion to suit the mood of others. I’ll not turn a blind eye to the hurt and hatred of my fellow man. I shan’t be shamed. I shan’t assist the world in its quest to destroy our fauna and flora. I will not pollute my body with chemicals. I shan’t assist in destroying the atmosphere. I will not recognize tyranny. I shan’t accept terrorism. I’ll not believe our politicians. I shall not support globalization. I will not watch the death of millions due to aids. I will not kill my fellow man. I won’t sucked in by false promises. I won’t hurt when I am subject to discrimination. I will not … I can’t. I have been liberated. This world has killed me. I am dead.

I love to read, and that includes the newspaper. In fact, I’m a person who actually enjoys—even savors—the newspaper. I don’t watch the news on television since I don’t care to have my news spoon-fed to me by someone who smiles insipidly and flirts with his or her anchor while talking about the latest bombing in the Middle East. Moreover, I don’t surf the Web to see what’s happening in the world since reading a computer screen makes my eyes do weird things after a while. I like to sit down, sip a cup of coffee, smoke a cigarette or two, and read the newspaper. I like the way it feels in my hands. I like the way the pages crackle and rustle when you turn them. I even like the smell of the newspaper—the unique potpourri of printers’ ink, whatever kind of paper they use (Heck, if I know), and, sometimes, the neighbor’s cat. I begin with the front page, first scanning the headlines then reading the most timely and newsworthy articles in depth. Next I progress to the Metro section, catch up on the local news, and move on to the Business section, which often contains interesting articles about things like the sub-prime mortgage crisis, which stocks are actually making money (they’re never any I own); new gizmos in technology; and how some college student came up with an idea in his daddy’s garage, started a dot.com business, and became a billionaire. Following that, since I save the best for last, I read the People section, which includes Dr. Gott, my favorite physician (I wish we had more like him); Ann Landers, who always seems to offer such sage advice; Miss Manners, since I love her attitude; the comics (my favorites are Mother Goose and Grimm, Doonesbury, For Better or Worse, and Kathy); and an assortment of puzzles. I love the puzzles. First, I complete Jumble, the scrambled word game; and all my years of playing Scrabble pay off since I can usually get the words with only a glance. Then I try to complete both crossword puzzles, and although I normally breeze right through the NEA puzzle, the LA Times puzzle gets progressively more difficult throughout the week, so that by Saturday, I’m lucky to fill in two or three blanks. Back eons ago when I was young, there was a public-service announcement that ran on television. It simply said, “Send me a man who reads.” The problem today, however, is that most people don’t read. I occasionally have students who actually admit, “I’ve never read a book. I don’t read the paper. I don’t read magazines. I don’t like to read.” My response to them is, “You have my sympathy.” P.S. I failed to mention the Sports section, well, because I don’t read the Sports section, that is, except during horseracing season simply because I love horses and not because I have a bookie.

I’ve been with this man named Emmanuel for about 14months. along the way i have learned so much about myself and i messed up a lot on the way because to put it, i was young and he’s the first guy i have ever loved, ever been with. i lied to him about things about me, for example he’s a lot older than me and he thought i was 18 when at the time i was only 17 and some other things some what like that. ive never been good with the opposite sex and ive always felt, scared because i gave my all to him. now about a week ago he told me that he is leaving me for good and that he is falling in love with a girl i introduced him to and now him and i are back together and he is cheating on her with me… what should i do? how do i get over him? how do i make myself stronger? how can i hate him? help me please, i need to know how to walk away.
