a poem written perhaps not by me, but dictated in my head by another source. It doesn’t apply to me, and I didn’t know what the next word was going to be before I wrote it.
I imagine he is over my bed kneeling down to give me a very soft kiss on the lips…
This is about remembering a lost love, and how it helps me through problems I have now, like illness, to remember his kiss. It is about how it makes me feel better and alive.
In its absence we forget what it is like to be human…
This is about the experiences and interactions of love for all of us, and how love is necessary for all of us to truly be alive…

I don’t really know, memories are powerful things that just rush my mind sometimes, thought I would try to capture that.
So I struggle in my field of weeds and blood

Scribbled this the other evening. Wanted to put myself in the place of one who is slowly losing their soulmate to time. Inspired of conversations with friends on the effects of age and experiences of our grandparents. The human heart holds such deep secrets even when the mind seems a little lost.
Happy New Year 2009 …

How many times have we been a silent observer of something, someone, magnificent?
When the ground would crackle and crinkle under the stomp of water proved feet, / And laughter and warmth were all around,
Memories of Autumn, it’s my favorate season and after writing this poem, I now ACTALLY know why…. / I always thought it was just because I liked the cooler weather, but I have (just) realised I like the memories of this time of year and that has manifested into me loving Autumn; not the other way around. / Thanks Linda for commenting on Autumn Equinox Fruit; which is where this poem started. / And thank you David for sugesting I write a “positive” poem – as promised it is to you too!
I knew an old soldier, / Who took me back in time. / I was sick with fever, / And he sat beside my bed.
This is a tributary work to my grandfather. It started as a poem and is now in more of a song format but I haven’t put any music to it. It’s difficult to work with because it’s so close to my heart. I am truly honored by my grandfather and the men and women like him who serve our country. / MCN:C418C-2486F-81FA6 If you have someone you would like to honor Please go here & post a square for them
He never saw it coming. The finish. Silently, on secret wings the letter had arrived and shattered his world…

A sequel to “Time Before”. Taken together they depict the passing of time from childhood to a very old age lived alone by the survivor of a life spent with a loved one now deceased but deeply missed and remembered. The focus is on change, but also on how, for the character, a long life is but a fleeting moment packed with memories that never fade. Inspired by the people who spared their time to talk to me during a period of reminiscence research I completed some while back in a remote, rural community in the Hebrides. NB. The word “tide” used in the last line is a colloquialism used in the north of England. It means guide/carry/protect. I’ve kept it in here, as I cannot think of an equivalent in formal English, that is, a word that carries the same complex sense. Most likely this use derives from seafaring, as do so many English words and phrases.
