  • My thoughts about love...

In my relatively sparse experience, I would say that I believe that there will only be two great loves in our lives. One that is ‘great’ and one that is ‘true’. The way I see it, the ‘great’ is there to help us grow and flourish. It’s there for us to learn from. It’s there to show us the indescribably wonderful things that occur when we feel ‘safe’ and confident enough to start sharing ourselves with another. It ‘opens us up’ to all sorts of possibilities. I believe, also, that it is there to ‘break us’ so that we might one day mend and I should hope, grow back… stronger! I believe it’s placed before us, to help guide us to that which is ‘true’. I believe it is placed before us to help us distinguish the difference between, that which is ‘great’ and that which is ‘true’. The ‘true’ one, well, there’s nothing that I can really say about this one that isn’t already intimated; it’s true, in every sense of the word! It’s intense! This kind of love gets the blood pumping through your veins, like nothing else ever could! It ‘hits’ you suddenly, when you’re least expecting it, knocking the wind from your chest; leaving you feeling breatheless! It is liberating. It is intoxicating, like a fine wine; ‘goes straight to your head’! It’s like a drug; extremely addictive! Those who are lucky enough to find this kind of love are TRULY blessed! To feel this kind of love, is indescribable; it’s the kind of love that, in my opinion, couldn’t and shouldn’t be ignored or denied!! If you should be so lucky as to stumble across this kind of love along the journey that is your life… I say… hold on and hold on fast!

Here is a fantastic Poem by Pablo Neruda… And because Love battles / / And because love battles / not only in its burning agricultures / but also in the mouth of men and women, / I will finish off by taking the path away / to those who between my chest and your fragrance / want to interpose their obscure plant. About me, nothing worse / they will tell you, my love, / than what I told you. I lived in the prairies / before I got to know you / and I did not wait love but I was / laying in wait for and I jumped on the rose. What more can they tell you? / I am neither good nor bad but a man, / and they will then associate the danger / of my life, which you know / and which with your passion you shared. And good, this danger / is danger of love, of complete love / for all life, / for all lives, / and if this love brings us / the death and the prisons, / I am sure that your big eyes, / as when I kiss them, / will then close with pride, / into double pride, love, / with your pride and my pride. But to my ears they will come before / to wear down the tour / of the sweet and hard love which binds us, / and they will say: “The one / you love, / is not a woman for you, / Why do you love her? I think / you could find one more beautiful, / more serious, more deep, / more other, you understand me, look how she’s light, / and what a head she has, / and look at how she dresses, / and etcetera and etcetera”. And I in these lines say: / Like this I want you, love, / love, Like this I love you, / as you dress / and how your hair lifts up / and how your mouth smiles, / light as the water / of the spring upon the pure stones, / Like this I love you, beloved. To bread I do not ask to teach me / but only not to lack during every day of life. / I don’t know anything about light, from where / it comes nor where it goes, / I only want the light to light up, / I do not ask to the night / explanations, / I wait for it and it envelops me, / And so you, bread and light / And shadow are. You came to my life / with what you were bringing, / made / of light and bread and shadow I expected you, / and Like this I need you, / Like this I love you, / and to those who want to hear tomorrow / that which I will not tell them, let them read it here, / and let them back off today because it is early / for these arguments. Tomorrow we will only give them / a leaf of the tree of our love, a leaf / which will fall on the earth / like if it had been made by our lips / like a kiss which falls / from our invincible heights / to show the fire and the tenderness / of a true love.

Lately I have been somewhat depressed, thinking about the events in life that are out of my control. I want to tell you a little story. My daughter, who will turn 21 this year…has had a rough time here lately. She had a baby January 15th 2007; my grandson who means the world to me. The father has very little to do with the baby. They broke up about a month into her pregnancy and they had been together about 2 years. A few weeks later she met a wonderful Marine stationed in Jacksonville, North Carolina named KC. He took on the responsibilities to help her raise Matthew. He also bought her a ring and asked her hand in marriage a month before leaving for Iraq this past August. In December, my daughter, who had been living with us at the time, walked out of her bedroom and told me she was breaking up with this wonderful man. Why? We still do not really know. I had all of his possessions here while he was in Iraq and remained close with him. In another few short weeks she met another..she got pregnant again within 3 months of their relationship & are currently together. I see things in this one I do not care for, but isn’t that the way it goes? KC just got home from Iraq and spent a few days here with us. My daughter, was here at one point and they finally got to talk and see each other and they remain friends. I as an outsider see the best thing for my daughter and grandson walking out the door. I do not want any of my children to be with someone they do not want to be with, so I try to not be all like..what the hell are you doing? Just because I see a perfect fit does not mean it is to be. It is always hard to let go of the one’s you love, especially children because we want nothing but the best for them. We want to make sure they are always protected…we got them this far and have to trust within ourselves that we taught them more than enough to carry on, on their own…

TheMan Rules At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down Finally, the guys’ side of the story.. / (I must admit, it’s pretty good.) / We always hear’ the rules’From the female side. / Now here are the rules from the male side. These are our rules! / Please note.. these are all numbered ‘1 ’ / ON PURPOSE! 1. Men are NOT mind readers. 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. / You’re a big girl. If it’s up, put it down. / We need it up, you need it down. / You don’t hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 1. Sunday sports It’s like the full moon / or the changing of the tides. / Let it be. 1. Shopping is NOT a sport. / And no, we are never going to think of it that way. 1. Crying is blackmail. 1. Ask for what you want. / Let us be clear on this one: / Subtle hints do not work! / Strong hints do not work! / Obvious hints do not work! / Just say it! 1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question. 1. Come to us with a problemonly if you want help solving it. That’s what we do. / Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for. 1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. / In fact, all comments become Null and void after 7 Days. 1. If you think you’re fat, you probably are. / Don’t ask us. 1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one 1. You can either ask us to do something / Or tell us how you want it done. / Not both. / If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself. 1. Whenever possible, Please say whatever you have to say during commercials.. 1. Christopher Columbus didNOT need directions and neither do we. 1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. / Peach, for example, is a fruit, not A color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is. 1. If it itches, it will be scratched. / We do that. 1.. If we ask what is wrong and you say ‘nothing,’ We will act like nothing’s wrong. / We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle. 1. If you ask a question you don’t want an answer to, Expect an answer you don’t want to hear. 1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine… Really . 1. Don’t ask us what we’re thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as football / or golf. 1. You have enough clothes. 1.. You have too many shoes. 1. I am in shape.Round IS a shape! 1. Thank you for reading this. / Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; / But did you know men really don’t mind that? It’s like camping. Pass this to as many men as you can - / to give them a laugh. Pass this to as many women as you can - to give them a bigger laugh

Yes it’s true It’s been a year! Happy Anniversary Y’allll! Thank you all for being a part of such an incredible journey In this bubble I have flexed and tested my artistic muscles, experimented and mostly I have been awestruck by the friendships I have made with such kindred spirits…... your love generiosty encouragement and confidence in me has been very precious to me…..more than you could know. Some of you remember how at the beginning of the year my new Business partner left because of family commitments, I was lost! Now I am about to launch Entree Tours with a new partner Lara, she is SO excited about what we are creating!! This means I can fund my passion, one I have wanted since I was like six years old!... I am setting the foundation for making Films & Documentaries with Naked Spoon Productions Initially I thought Naked Spoon was gonna be a Private Erotic Site specifically for women to explore the question “what turns us on?”, but after my recent detox, and spiritual cleansing (thank you Dale! ) after coming back from Sydney I came to understand I want to go BIG and direct, write and produce films and documentaries. There are people here I know I would love to collaborate with as you continue to support me with inspiration humour and love….. So I raise my glass to you dear bubblers, bubblettes and bubble buddies…..here’s to following our dream and being what we were born to be, our unique brilliant selves, cos who else is gonna do that better than us?? Love and admiration / keep on bubbling xoxox Ena Lu

I would like to thank “The L Word” for featuring True Love in their group. This painting was espcecially close to my heart as I have known Nadine since she was about 4 years old. We have a close relationship to this day & she is very special to me. Beside the painting I wrote: This is a painting of Emily & Nadine. I called it “True Love” because many of us cannot be true to ourselves and love those who we know we are not meant to be with. / Whether this young, true love lasts forever or not, is neither here nor there! What matters is that they both knew & know that they crossed a line in their ‘circle,’ and went forth and came forth as they truly are to ALL…no matter what the consequences! Oil on canvas 16X20 I am very proud of her & she still loves her painting. And that makes me very happy!!! Ieneke :)

THIS IS VERY, VERY LONG. HOWEVER, EVENTUALLY, AFTER MUCH RAMBLING, I DO ACTUALLY MAKE A POINT. For the past few weeks, everyone I know has been saying I’ve found my one true love and that it’s inevitable that we’re going to get married. Funny. Funny, firstly because we’ve never met (we talk on MSN after being introduced by a mutual friend), and because they actually seem serious. The reasons we’re apparently meant to be are because we get on well, and have a lot in common. Fair enough, but he’s still a complete stranger in many ways. We both love art and music, like the same foods, the same animals, and have a lot of common interests. But those are interests I share with a lot of my friends – people I know a lot more about – and I’m not intending to marry any of them. Yet my friends insist it’s bound to happen. / (Oh, and we’re both mental, but I’m starting to believe there are a lot more nutcases in the world that we realise, some of us are just nicer than others. ) / I see him as someone I get on with, in the same way I get on with my best friend, school mates, and fellow RedBubblers; you share similar interests which is how you make friends, right? / I’ll admit we do click but I don’t see myself dating him, let alone marrying him. I suppose since I’m 17, I don’t have marriae on my mind at all, naturally. / What doesn’t help is not knowing how he feels about me, if I’m an acquiantance, the love of his life, or a cult. Anyway, after this rather long-winded introduction, I can begin to talk about what I actually want to – love. People fall in love, and when they fall in love, they go crazy. I know this because I’ve seen it happen to many friends (just last night I went to the movies with a group of friends including a girl who claims she’s in love with one of the guys we went with. When I asked her about the last boy she’d been in love with, the boy she’d called ‘The One’ , she looked me dead in the eye and said she didn’t give a damn if he lived or died.) / When it comes to my friends, I think they fall in love with the idea of falling in love, and simply find someone to use in their dream. They say their hearts flutter and they go weak at the knees and cannae stop thinking about them. That’s nice. / So, as I was saying, when people fall in love, they go crazy. They are blind to the bject of their affection’s many imperfections. They’re mad about the person, have them in their thoughts and dreams, want to be with them, make them happy, and learn everything about them, know them inside out. / The thing for me about love is, people fall in love. / As soon as they hit the ground, they seem to bounce, because they fall out of love. / As soon as this happens, all the little things they never saw come to light. The fact that they never really liked their laugh, or their accent, or their taste in music. It seems that people want to know everything, and once they do, they get bored, or realise it’s not what they hoped it would be and that’s the end. / After hitting the ground for a second time, after having bounced as a result of the first fall, all that’s left is a cold reality. / And now that you’re alone, having fallen in and out of love, you now hate the person’s guts. And it’s like that with every aspect of our lives. When people form a band, it’s new and exciting, the endless possibilities, the great unknown. You’re in a band with your best friends, and it’’s fun. You play together, tour together, get to know eachother better than anyone else does, you’re so close. And then it changes, things get stale. And so, the band splits and you all hate eachother’s guts and refuse to acknowledge eachother’s existence. / It happens in any kind of business I suppose – with music you might get a little closer, perhaps. So, all of these things made me wonder if human beings are ever truly happy, or if we spend our lives making a series of ever increasing fuck-ups, until we die trying. I’m something of a miserablist at times, and far too cynical for my own good, I know this. My point in all of this is about love. I know that sometimes a boy and girl meet, love eachother, and are together until death. Awww. I’ll admit, it does sound nice. But it seems too rare. What about the rest? Those who fall in love, fall out of love, over and over, searching for true love. When I listen to the Beatles, nearly all their songs are about love. Truel love, real love, falling in love, lost love, forgotten love, mad love, LOVE. / And, their lyrics must be based on some kind of love, surely. / I adore their song, Michelle. I like the idea that two people can love eachother, even though they don’t understand eachother at all, they don’t even speak the same language. I love you, I love you, I love you. / That’s all I want to say. / Until I find a way / I will say the only words I know that / You’ll understand. Michelle, ma belle. / Sont des mots qui vont trés bien ensemble, / Trés bien ensemble. I need to, I need to, I need to. / I need to make you see, / Oh, what you mean to me. / Until I do I’m hoping you will / Know what I mean. I love you… How can that not make you smile!? / When Paul McCartney wrote those lyrics, he was dating Jane Asher. Her name was Jane. She wasn’t French, nor did she speak it. Do you see where I’m going? He wrote those lyrics simply because he needed lyrics for that song, which he wanted to have a French theme. I don’t know if he had actually ever dated a girl called Michelle, or anyone foreign. I think a great many songs are about love, and of those, often about broken hearts and lost loves. Are those songs about different people, or the same person? If they’re about the same person, is that person the one ? If yes, then why aren’t they with the writer of the song?! My mum never found real love and nor did my father, or my stepfather. My grandparents were married within three weeks of meeting, and together forever. Perhaps true love does exist. Perhaps it doesn’t. Perhaps those who are with the person they ‘love’, from the moment they set eyes on eachother till the day they die, didn’t find love but settled for something good. I don’t know. I have never fallen in love, and so have never fallen out of it, so all that I say is really just the view of a (very cynical, over-thinking) outsider. For now, I find myself questioning whether people actually know what it is that they’re looking for – with work, love, life – and if they ever find it, or die trying. But who knows, maybe my friends are right, and I am going to marry that boy. Perhaps, supposing we ever meet, it’ll be love at first sight and we’ll be together ‘til death do us part. Or maybe I’ll be the maid of honour at his wedding. I’ll let you know.
