Wanted to share with you all my latest “painting”.. well it’s painted on computer actually for a specific purpose. As much as I love the smell of turps and the mess of gooey paint, I also spend time doing digital mock ups and reinterpretations of my real world work when I can find the time. I produced a drawing tutorial for the Australasian website of Wacom (makers of digital drawing tablets) some time ago and was contacted by them recently and invited to submit a painting for an upcoming book titled “The Art of Making Marks”. The deadline was pretty tight at the time (2 days) so I dusted off my trusty Intuos 3 tablet, picked up my pen and set to work overnight. I finished up at 2:30 am but was quite pleased with the result. / It’s so weird how some image editing and painting programs really do feel like I’m pushing and dragging paint around.. a normal painting like this in traditional media (oils) could take me a few weeks to complete! However, six hours straight left me pretty tired by the end of it but it was nice to play around in a painting arena I haven’t visited for a while. A lot of people have difficulty accepting computer generated work as real art but it doesn’t bother me and has its place. / I love my jars of smelly turps, soiled rags, pots of brushes, broken charcoal, oil sticks, pastels and large primed canvas just like the next crazy painter. I also love that solitary buzz of a late night in the studio with good music, red wine for company and a half finished painting on the go. But this was something different… and with a finished result just as satisfying for me. So, I introduce to you “The Girl who loved Prose”, a fiery red haired Irish woman with a passion for the literary arts and like her caffeine girl friends, an ambiguous stare. / It took several long hours to complete but I convinced myself to stop eventually. / You just don’t mess with Irish girls.. Lavender Fields Rolling hills covered in violet blooms / Rippling in rhythm with the breeze / Fields of lavender chase away the fears / Gentle perfume lingering over purple seas Lay down amidst the lavender sprigs / Dream of more magical days / When the sky was almost always blue / Up at the clouds, in love, we gazed Fields of lavender stretch to the sky / Evoking precious memories of when we were young / When we saw beauty in everything we saw / Our dreams were big, future bright, an endless song Time moves on and our dreams have changed / We lie and watch the clouds dance in blue skies / Our love is still as beautiful as the lavender fields / Together amidst the lavender, our happiness remains © Alison Pearce 2008

when you are a child.. you live you love / you dream its just the way it is.. I always hope that every child will be able to be whom they need to be , and never go to sleep at night in any fear of any adult.. this precious child was watching birds at the 6 mile Cyrpress slough, . yesterday , and I will always remember these days when we go out as girls on a day off.. they are so looks forward to , as a little child.. I really love them.. The Florida group meets once a month to take photos , and I sure love being with the girls.. The words of a false lover are scratched into sands and washed clear by the incoming tide of truth….... My words of love are of no more value to her than the harsh cry of a lone Gull within sight of land after months at sea, Is to the well fed Falcon on the cliff-top, waiting…....... Love is nothing more than the trailing of a wing in the Ocean … A momentary pleasure in passing….... Which, if over-indulged, stalls my forward motion and brings me crashing into a Sea of grand Shakespearian troubles…... To Hell with love…...........To Hell with getting wet…...........
