I have a wonderful friend who’s grandpa suffers from Alzheimers. / this is for her and her pain. Grandpa’s Present / By Linaji 2009 What are the colors in my Grandfathers eyes? / Dusty shelves of memories / He says / “I remember” as blocks of thought / scan remains of feeling good / I am sure because he always laughs / as he looks at me and calls me Jesus Past pain now blended with his smile / lifting me up to the realm of endless giggles / twirling me into wicked thrills while my belly / gains a respite from the boxed in rooms / where I was nothing special till he told me / I was Goldilocks who had curls / that smelled like candy cane Inside Grandpa was my hero / he was for me the last Native / On the plains of yesterdays covered wagons / Facing history rich and full / Now; / Hills brown and barren and lost sometimes / In all the present moments that are never / Seen, / Nor spoken of, glossed over with his / Far away look that I am not a part of Hidden pleasures perhaps then, / Am I not far enough back in his heart? / Where his lifeline seems so vibrant / So real.. In March of this year, my husband Lynn and I had the great pleasure of meeting, sharing and being blessed by Lindsay Wagner (deeksha blessing), by participating in an experiential workshop, she calls “Quiet the Mind, Open the Heart”. In addition, I was further blessed by being invited to her home for a private session for several hours, where she re-awakened my knowledge of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and also known by several other names. She also reminded me how our past experiences, with our inner file cabinets, color our perceptions of the world and our reactions to it. Like a particular incident that causes pain that we refuse to allow to heal, and even though we are very intelligent, our familial and/or societal upbringing, beliefs and responses can program us to react in ways that rob our joy in daily life. She helped me to explore my prior programming and shift my perspective beyond it, “to experience life as it is in the moment.” / One of the most profound gifts she gave me were the words upon this image, a new daily practice of mine ~ while touching just above the heart in a circular motion, I say each of these phrases three times, especially when experiencing any stress, but most often a daily mantra. It has had such a healing effect on regaining some power within my life, I thought I would share it here. / Image is a sketch of scales balanced, photographed and edited in photoshop7 with fractilius filter and text. / My hope and intention is that those that will benefit from this simple tool, will utilize and share it to heal themselves and others. / / Feelings

This calender consists of a series of ongoing portraits created through the process of stepping out of my own way and allowing collected imagery symbols mixed media and intuition to BECOME! Once upon a time…... I planned my art by doing a sketch or having an idea….at least a place to start. And once upon a time I realized there was more that needed expressing than my underused brain could imagine….and I have a GOOD imagination. This intuitive way of working was a necessary step in my own evolution as artist and being….to relinquish control….to learn to listen to my inner guide or higher self. I came to find during this exercise that ‘what I was asked to put on canvas’ seemed to make no sense at all …...just strange little pieces from nowhere…or so I thought yet as I was living my life I realized that it made no sense either. I concluded that this no sense or nonsense I was creating through my judgment actually reflects the innate sense we come from and all have,,,,THE BIG SENSE….....a sense beyond …....and so I trust this way of working more than I trust my way of working! LOL Enjoy IN JOY in whatever sense you can.

This tree root is on the northern periphery of our property. We’ve lived here for over 35 years, and it’s been here all that time, in exactly the same state you see it here. I marvel at its perfect heart shape and think it’s a little note from God to remind me of his undying love. I borrowed the title from the refrain of a hymn written by Father John Foley, S.J. / Here are the lyrics of that hymn: Dwelling Place / by John Foley, SJ I fall on my knees to the Father of Jesus / The Lord who has shown us, the glory of God. May He in His love give us strength for our living / The strength of His Spirit, the glory of God. May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts / May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love. May grace and peace be yours in God our Father / And in His son. May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts / May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love.
